If a child questioned their indoctrination...

If a poor Mormon kid questioned whether he should be conditioned by his family and community to obey the command to dismiss or avoid anything ostensibly "Anti-Mormon"... how would you respond?

If he is unsure and hasn't decided for himself whether he should accept the command to dismiss or avoid Anti-Mormon things, would you tell him that these innocent thoughts will certainly lead to nothing but Anti-Mormon deceptions and sinful doubt?

Would you suggest this is true or would you declare this is true...?

Does it matter whether you suggest or declare this if the child is young enough to be inclined to accept it, regardless?

If a child actually asked such a question given the circumstances, I would be amazed. Assuming the question was asked, I would indeed suggest to her/him that doubt will be a consequence.

If I felt it was my place, I would tell the child that doubt is natural and that questioning can lead to answers.

So would I, but you might have missed the purpose I had in mind.

I would indeed suggest to her/him that doubt will be a consequence.

The distinction you make between doubt and sinful doubt is very relevant.

I would tell the child that doubt is natural and that questioning can lead to answers.

Again, what you believe about doubt concerning Anti-Mormonism is very relevant. Questions may lead to answers, but would you tell this child that the possible answers to these relevant questions are already divided into Anti-Mormon and Mormon categories?

I would suspect that you would also tell this child that one of these categorizes will surely and purposefully expose his soul to eternal danger.

No.

Well, you suppose incorrectly.
