Church Shipping Out New Tithing Slips

Sorry if this has already been discussed. But, apparently the church is now shipping new donation forms to wards and branches in the U.S. Things like the education fund, temple fund, etc. are no longer a seperate line item.

Also, the following statement now appears at the bottom of the donation slip,

"Though reasonable efforts will be made globally to use donations as designated, all donations become the Church's property and will be used at the Church's sole discretion to further the Church's overall mission."

So now if you donate to a specific item the church reserves the right to spend it however they see fit. I suspect this has always been the case, now they are just willing to admit it, and want to CYA with the disclaimer.

I've always thought that the church has to receive far more on the humanitarian aid line than they reportedly give out. They can't just be saving that money separate from all the rest--it gets invested into their real estate and business ventures like all the rest.

They should open their books so we can appreciate how generously and honestly they've used that money. :)

I think this reflects the Church struggling to make ends meet.
Instead of your donations (not mine anymore) being spent on what you donated them for, they will be spent where the Church is most strapped for cash. I think this means spending on the poor and the needy will go down, to offset the lack of funds for City Creek and business administration...oops...Church administration expenses, including funding the Church's senior paid clergy.

In the UK the Church is required by law to publish financial accounts. You can go online and access them yourself for a small fee (companieshouse.gov.uk). It was viewing how UK tithing gets spent that tipped me over the edge into withdrawing financial support.

bc space just doesn't get it. The first rule of running a con game is make sure the victim doesn't know how the money works, where it goes, how much the administrative fees are, etc. If the Mormon Corporation was ever Honest in its dealing with their fellow man, I believe the sucking sound of the members leaving would be deafening.

You notice that the Mormon Corporation doesn't extend the same trust to its members (tithing settlement) that it expects from them.

I don't think they should. They are wise not to trust in the honesty of certain others.

Red herring. Financial transparency is only a threat to organizations with something to hide.

WHAT!!!!!! That is the STUPIDEST thing I have ever heard.

What, dishonest people will try to get some of the Mormon Corporation's money once they know how much it is? Or will evil spirits come and take it away like when Horny Holy Joe was aiding land owners in discovering and recovering lost treasure on their property.

Ew, ew, I know, the gullible Morons that make up the bulk of tithe paying Mormons will see how much the Mormon Corporation has, realize that its not being used how the leaders stated and STOP THROWING THEIR MONEY AWAY!!
