Priesthood ban: Who is the false prophet, Young or Kimball?

Post by _Polygamy-Porter »

On several recorded occasions the Prophet Brigham Young stated that blacks would be the last of mankind to receive the priesthood. So basically, in terms of timetables, at the end of the earth.

You see some classes of the human family that are black, uncouth, un- comely, disagreeable and low in their habits, wild, and seemingly deprived of nearly all the blessings of the intelligence that is generally bestowed upon mankind.

The first man that committed the odious crime of killing one of his brethren will be cursed the longest of any one of the children of Adam. Cain slew his brother. Cain might have been killed, and that would have put a termination to that line of human beings. This was not to be, and the Lord put a mark upon him, which is the flat nose and black skin.

Trace mankind down to after the flood, and then another curse is pronounced upon the same race - that they should be the "servant of servants;" and they will be, until that curse is removed; and the Abolitionists cannot help it, nor in the least alter that decree.

How long is that race to endure the dreadful curse that is upon them? That curse will remain upon them, [p.291] and they never can hold the Priesthood or share in it until all the other descendants of Adam have received the promises and enjoyed the blessings of the Priesthood and the keys thereof. Until the last ones of the residue of Adam's children are brought up to that favorable position, the children of Cain cannot receive the first ordinances of the Priesthood.

They were the first that were cursed, and they will be the last from whom the curse will be removed. When the residue of the family of Adam come up and receive their blessings, then the curse will be removed from the seed of Cain, and they will receive blessings in like proportion. - JoD 7:290-291 (October 9, 1859)

Why are so many of the inhabitants of the earth cursed with a sin of blackness? It comes in consequence of their fathers rejecting the power of the Holy Priesthood, and the law of God. They will go down to death. And when all the rest of the children have received their blessings in the Holy Priesthood, then that curse will be removed from the seed of Cain, and they will then come up and possess the priesthood, and receive all the blessings which we now are entitled to. - JoD 11:272 (Dec 23, 1866)

Did the end of times occur in 1978?

Either god changed his mind, or Spencer is a false prophet.

To the defenders tossing the Prophet Brigham Young under the bus, may I present this:

"I know just as well what to teach this people and just what to say to them and what to do in order to bring them into the celestial kingdom...I have never yet preached a sermon and sent it out to the children of men, that they may not call Scripture. Let me have the privilege of correcting a sermon, and it is as good Scripture as they deserve. The people have the oracles of God continually." (Journal of Discourses, vol. 13, p. 95)

Brigham Young.....racist, false prophet, liar, thief, adulterer, murderer.

Spencer W. Kimball....non-racist, non-prophet, basically honest and nice guy. Had to give blacks
the priesthood or face the Church losing its tax-exempt status (i.e. billions a year).

I vote for both as false prophets.

Some of us, on the other hand, actually prefer a religion that includes some type of correlation with reality.

Brigham Young was wrong, both about his sermons being scripture and about God's position on blacks holding the priesthood.

Here it is 130 years after Young died, and some of his words have made their way into LDS scripture, but certainly not all of them have.

Your subject line asked who was a false prophet, Young or Kimball. What exactly do you mean by false prophet? What does someone have to do to be considered a false prophet?

Brigham Young was a racist and a murderer. Also, it should be understood that the man had over 2 dozen wives and he liked to sleep with many women piled up in one bed. He was a tyrant and cracked a whip just to make the women jump and beg for mercy!

Kimball was a joke. He caved in because he knew the system was going to crack up because South America and Africa were starting to make real progress. So, Kimball and his nutless wonders decided it was time to let blacks have a little power too.

But we see poor Anubis of Facsimile No. 3 is still a slave according to official Mormon doctrine and scripture. For shame! Mormons are racists! They mock the ancient Egyptian religion in their ignorance and prejudice shame. Revelations of Mormonism are utterly false. That has been proven.

Read the Explanations of Facsimile No. 3 and then tell me how Joe Smith was a true prophet restoring Egyptology to the world.

Or, don't even try it. You'd be better off not.

How so? When he spouted these off in his day, they were words from God just as the few things that Hinckley spouted off like the proclamation on the family. Imagine 50 years from now when Gay marriages occur in the Mormon temples, what will members say about this proclamation then? That he was wrong??

Here it is 130 years after Young died, and some of his words have made their way into LDS scripture, but certainly not all of them have.
And how does LDS Inc decide which of these prophetic statements live and which ones die???

In the context of Mormon theology.

One prophet stated that blacks would NEVER receive the Mormon priesthood UNTIL the end of the world, then in 1978 Kimball says ahh heck lets do this now, well before the end of the world.

The Mormon church is like a wave on the sea, driven by the wind and tossed. It changes and molds itself according to the times in order to appear more desirable. Gone are the days of the peculiar people and the rough talk of their grand pimp, Brigham Young.

Mormonism will meet its fate in time. The church of the latter-days can only continue for another 500 years or so and the latter-days are over. The clock is ticking. In the meantime, we await scandals! Perhaps a prophet will be caught in bed having sex with a hot young chick!

Polygamy-Porter, are you saying that a false prophet is one who makes mistakes? That a true prophet will never make mistakes? If so, then I'm with SteelHead; both Young and Kimball are false prophets.

But I'm not naïve enough to think that there are any true prophets, using that definition. I guess it isn't important to me that I follow a prophet/leader who I'm sure will never make mistakes; what's important to me is that I follow a prophet/leader that God wants me to follow.
