MCCAIN: I always say repression breeds obsession. Politicians have to be goody-goodies. They put on this face of perfection and pretend they’re completely above indiscretion. But the more you deny your sexual side, the more it builds up and comes out in inappropriate ways. Not to bring any particular politician into this discussion, but I always find it fascinating that the number one state per capita for downloading porn is Utah. All those pious Mormons and they’re drooling at their laptops all day.

What does it mean to repress one's sexuality? Should people act like chimps and start humping whenever and whomever they want? Would society progrss with such behavior? And what does it mean to deny one's sexual side? And how does she know that it is the pious Mormons downloading paid sex sites? Here is a fact: if I am a nonmormon and live in NYC, I can go to the local sex shop near times square and get my dvd. Where can I go in Utah? It seems the only choice is the web.

I think there is something to the notion. But it doesn't excuse one from the obligation of remaining chaste. We merely teach that sex within marriage is good and something to look forward to. We also use the appropriate scriptures to show it.

What this moron as all liberal and anti-mormon morons don't understand is that the reason Online Porn is higher in Utah is because Porn period is not easy at all to get in Utah, thus people can only get it Online. Further, Utah is only 60% Mormon, and 40% active Mormon. Further, Utah has the highest number of computers in homes per-capita than any other state. Thus, giving these facts, it's clear that it's not "Mormons" who are viewing the porn.

Not saying that Mormons don't have weaknesses sometimes such as porn, but only that the porn rate has nothing to do with Mormons themselves. The actual porn rate with Mormons would actually be "lower", just like it is for other problems in society in relation to Mormons, lower divorces, drug use, etc. etc.

Classic liberal and anti-mormon idiocy.... Facts are a terrible thing.

You do realize 40%-60% is a huge demographic, right?

So non-mormons in Utah download porn at a higher rate than they do in other states? They must download at a much, much higher rate to overcome the 40-60% of Mormons who hardly download any porn at all. Outside of Utah, non Mormons make up like 95% of their state's population, and they can't keep up with the 40% of non-mormons in Utah. Weird. Those Utah non-mormons are a bunch of pervs.

It is also strange that the relatively small percentage of Utahans who are non-mormons can skew the porn stats all the way to the top of the list, but they can't move Utah's ranking of per capita smokers up from #50. They can't move Utah's rank for per capita drinkers up from #50. you would think if they can shoot porn consumption all the way to #1, they could move alcohol and tobacco consumption to at least 49.

Let me try this again: In NYC, if a nonmember wants to view porn, he or she heads to the area around time square and purchases a dvd. In utah, such options are limited. And so, porn is ordered online. Now let me put it this way: As a LDS man who wants to view porn. Do I subsribe to an online sex site that sends me a monthly bill every month under a false company name to avoid suspicion? Would the wife notice a charge every month? And does one talk one's way out of it? It is dangerous for Mormons to look at porn unless they are single willing to get a credit bill for the viewing pleasure.

1. When every place else in the country has porn shops, strip joints, etc. etc. on every street corner, while Utah doesn't at all, obviously non-members or inactives are going to go to the internet for their porn.

2. I already know Mormons aren't free from sin, including porn. However, like with any other sin, the viewing of porn is not any different among Mormons, we do it much less.

Thus, it's a lying misrepresentation to claim that high internet porn in Utah is a bunch of perverted Mormons. The actual facts tell a different story.
