hermaphrodites and LDS theory of gender assignment

Did elohim just screw up big time with hermaphrodites?

Are they eternally both genders at once?

Are they neither gender at once?

Does this person get some LDS priesthood?

Or, does the fact that in nature hermaphrodites occur, albeit a low birth incident rate, belie the whole LDS notion that physical gender is an eternal assignment from the sky pilot?

"Why would God do that to anyone?"

It is an issue I have not seen the Church address directly.

ldsfaqs cosmology - premortal spirits who:

played with themselves - hermaphrodites
sat on the fense in the war - Black Africans
played mischievous tricks on goddess mothers - neanderthals
the most righteous - die as babies, life long mental disabilities

As is often the case here nobody thinks of a reason that favors God.
We have had a couple of astounding tsunamis in the last ten years. Hm? Only two so far in my lifetime that I easily recall. But the world is 75% ocean? Is that right? Wonders then why tsunami is not a weekly occurrence? Oh, that might be God moving in his majesty and power watching over us.

Then we get kids with two heads or conjoined twins of some sort. Hmm? That happens too but wonders of wonder it only happens in a negligible percentage of all births. Again the possibility should cause us to fear God that it not happen in our family and praise him with the utmost gratitude when it does not. Glory be to the Most High God!

And war, famine, plague, and all manner of ill possibilities only rarely happen. I have not had to shoot anyone in defense of home and family, never. Praise God.

No asteroids have wiped out the earth. Not that I recall. That bunch that killed Jupiter and the moon's surface show how often it can happen. How long has the earth rolled upon her wings and wobbled not at all? We know prophecy says that it will reel to and fro like a drunken man.
Imagine the scouring winds of eight-hundred or so miles per hour that would level all high towers. We get tornadoes more than we like. But they never quite destroy even one city. Great is our God keeping us safe for the most part but knowing how much he must do to keep it so.

It doesn't mean anything.

Oh, except that it makes the whole idea of pre-mortal gender ridiculous, which renders a significant point in the "Proclamation on the Family" dead wrong. And all that means is that the signature piece of "revelation" from the last thirty years is no more than just another uninspired memo from corporate HQ affirming the obvious fact that "families are good."

Hurray!

Like two headed animals renders single headed animals ridiculous. Good thinking.

Chance happens. Deal with it.

Ecclesiastes 9:11
11 ΒΆ I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.

Did elohim just screw up big time with hermaphrodites?

Birth defects are just part of life (Ether 12:27), so no, I don' think He screwed up.

Hmm. So, your interpretation of

And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.

is that God is gonna make some of his kids be hermaphrodites. That's faith promoting.

That's one way to describe it. Not exactly what I'd pick.

bcspace: Do you have answers for the other questions in the OP?

Are they eternally both genders at once?

Are they neither gender at once?

Does this person get some LDS priesthood?
