Uchdorf had a great line during GC when he quoted a bumper sticker that said, "Don't judge me because I sin differently than you." It's a great line, and got a good response from the congregation, but he is contradicting long established doctrine. Mormon doctrine states that there are different levels of sin. A person who forgot to do morning scripture study is in higher standing than a person who attended a gay orgy. BC Space is less of a sinner than the democrats in his ward. The church leaders, who may be your neighbors, sit in judgment of your sins, and there are different levels of sin. Some sins will get you excommunicated, other sins will simply get you a stern talking to from the bishop, and most sins you don't even need to confess to anyone. So was Uchdorf's talk new doctrine, or is it simply his opinions since it goes against established doctrine?

If the holy spirit tells you it was right, then it's right. It was the only talk that was consistently displayed decency and humanity, anyway.

I've heard both. All sin is equal in the sight of God...no degree of allowance, etc, etc.

But, if sexual sin is a sin next to murder and obviously skipping your morning scripture study is not next to murder than there does seem to be degrees of sin.

Murder does not appeal to me. Never had the urge.

Skipping morning scripture, I like that. And sex, well, that's my constant companion.

So the way I see it, sex is on the far side of the scale of sin seriousness from murder. Sex is much closer for me to skipping morning scripture. (In fact, skipping morning scripture to have sex is a two-fer in my book.)

Not a sin. Just doing as the Good Book describes!

(For me, I never got excited even reading those portions of the Bible.)

If you had to go out to dinner with one of the Q12 to a nice restaurant with romantic ambiance (soft music like Coleman Hawkins and Ben Webster with dim lighting, a little smoke in the air, and maybe a waiter with a tray of martinis), who would you choose? Seriously, who?

I've gone to dinner with a few 70's. It's not as scintillating as you might expect.

Yeah LDST. I believe it.

But if you *had* to do it, who would you pick. My point is that Mr. Uchtdorf is romantic for many followers. He is not from the same mold as the others. He also has that sort of debbinaire look.

This, I believe, is why people listen so intently to him.

I'd pick whoever would be the least likely to embarrass me in public.
