Pagan symbols of American

Post by _DarkHelmet »

For a country that was supposedly founded on Judeo-Christianity, you sure wouldn't know it by looking at our national symbols.

Perhaps the most symbolic national monument in America is the Statue of Liberty. We could have erected a giant Christus (Like the one in Rio) to greet people arriving on our shores, or a statue of Moses holding the ten commandments. Instead we have Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom, holding the Declaration of Independence, with a broken chain at her feet, symbolizing freedom.

The statue of liberty is only one example, and we can blame that on the French. But our center of Goverment in DC is also covered in Greek and Roman pagan symbols, as is our currency. How can a nation founded on Judeo-Christianity have so little Judeo-Christian influence on its goverment and allow for so many pagan monuments?

Why this?

Instead of this?

"We have taken up arms in defense of our liberty, our property, our wives, and our children; we are determined to preserve them, or die."

Because Miss Liberty was a nondenominational gift from the French.

The Christus is a little too denominational for us.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

the highest honor the USA bestoys on military personnel is a upside down pentagram. Look up the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Because paganism rocks?
Oh for shame, how the mortals put the blame on us gods, for they say evils come from us, but it is they, rather, who by their own recklessness win sorrow beyond what is given... Zeus (1178 BC)

The Washington Monument was going to be a cross before budget cuts.
