who runs it

I read comments that someone by the name Dan G is nemisis over at MAD. I then wondered if that is true, and with Scott Gordon being the head or founder of farms/fair is Dan G related related to Scott Gordon. Consider the boner nemisis raged for Juliann a few months back due to memegenerator, I wonder how close connected Scott G and Dan G are, a Deseretnews article atteibutes MAD to juliann Reynolds.

I am not sure exactly who Dan G is. However, you are correct in that he is the primary administrator of MAD. He is Juliann's minion for anything "techy" that needs to be done on the MAD board. My guess is that he is a geeky college dropout that lives in his Mom's basement, and worships the ground Juliann walks on. If you notice, anytime Nemesis writes something on the board, his grammar skills are horrendous.
When I was a Mod on MAD, he literally spent HOURS blocking IPs, redirecting links, etc.
As far as Scott Gordon is concerned, my understanding is that he holds the purse strings for the operation.
Juliann is the founder of MAD, much like Shades is the founder of MDB. The MAD board was her idea, and her initial creation.

Is there any truth in the rumor of a kinder and gentler Juliann, as she approaches old age?

I am not sure how old Juliann is. I believe she is probably around 56. That is hardly "old age". LOL
I am 48, and I don't consider myself old. (Comments from the peanut gallery are not welcome...Shulem and BC...that means you. LOL)
The thing is...Juliann has always had fairly progressive views as far as the gospel is concerned. I think that she has been caught between a rock and a hard place on a lot of issues with MAD because the funding for the board comes from some pretty conservative TBMs. Also, I don't think that her loyalty to the Church can be questioned, and she is going to fight critics on that score, no question.
I actually liked Juliann. However, she does have a stubborn streak, and completely shut down on me when we had a communication misunderstanding years ago. She refused to talk with me and made blanket assumptions which Dan G told her, that were simply not true.
Overall, I believe that Juliann does have a good heart, and I wish her no ill will. If she is "softening" as far as her treatment of critics is concerned, I think it is a good thing. Maybe she is coming to the realization that we are all people behind the computers, and actually have more in common than we have differences.

Just a tease if she happens to be reading. As we age, with experience we often become wiser. The alternative is becoming hostile and bitter, always blaming others. I would imagine that some of the misogyny in LDS culture does bother her.

I don't think that Scott Gordon is related to Dan G, though I suppose it's possible. I think that Liz is more or less right in her account, though my impression is that Juliann really doesn't have that much to do with the board anymore, though I could be wrong. As for the question of whether or not she has mellowed, I would definitely say, "Yes." I can't say whether this is a function of her simply getting older, or having been battered down by critics over the years. Again, I think Liz is right that Juliann has been in a very tough spot insofar as that she largely embraces liberal views, but gets smacked down by the more conservative priesthood holders on that board.
Re: the funding, I'm not sure about that. I seem to remember Juliann saying that she was the one who was bankrolling the operation. FAIR tried several years ago to divest itself of the board--they didn't want to deal with any accompanying fallout, or any "guilt by association." Plus, I was told at one point that it is actually the Church itself, via "backdoor channels," that is really funding FAIR.

Yeah, Scratch, I am not sure how the funding is tied with the board, either. I think that Juliann initialy bankrolled it, but I believe that there have been other players. Remember that the FAIR board was involved with a lawsuit against the Tanners some years ago. It seems to me that Alan Wyatt became somewhat involved with some partial funding at that point. However, this is speculation. I could be completely wrong there. I do know that Dan G took over as the prime administrator of the board when it transitioned from the FAIR board to the MAD board. It was at that point that he and Juliann gave a new description for the board, and the rules became pointedly more slanted, in favor of faith defenders.

Not surprising though. If you can't make a sentence, it's a real stretch to make an actual argument.

I met her at Sunstone a decade ago. I'm 56 now, and guess that she is close to me in age.
