God will be displeased with Romney...

It seems like each and every week at Church the theme of all the lessons and talks are about recruiting new converts or activating those members who haven't been seen for a millennium or two.

We are exhorted to look for the opportunities to talk about the Gospel, at work, with neighbours, with non member friends, with strangers we meet along the way.
We are encouraged to 'open our mouths' to talk about the Gospel and to do so without embarrassment. In fact we are encouraged to be bold in the spreading of the message of the Church.

Romney has been given probably the most golden of all opportunities to follow this counsel. Here, in the Mormon moment, the world's eyes are focused on a Mormon running for President.
God provides him with question after question about his religion.
Teaching opportunity after teaching opportunity.

And yet he clams up.
He does the exact opposite of what he is supposed to do, required to do even, in proclaiming the Gospel that is supposedly so true and so important that the world needs to hear it. Well the world's listening and he clams up and refuses to answer.

The next time I'm in a lesson where we are exhorted to be brave and bold in opening our mouths about the Gospel I am going to ask why Romney doesn't do it.

Where such opportunities will almost always result in angry contention because Romney is running for President as opposed to serving a mission, I have to wonder if such as you propose are real opportunities at all. Romney being politically involved and a Mormon at the same time is a great teaching in and of itself.

Hmmm...so if one fears that answering questions about Mormonism will lead to contention it's okay to just blank the questions. Got it.

Jesus himself didn't answer questions at various times for similar reasons such as questions not being honest. All questions are answered on LDS.org and associated sites. Your satisfaction with them is not anyone's responsibility but your own.

Sounds like the 50,000 missionaries can all come home, then. Everything's on LDS.org.

My satisfaction with questions and answers is not being discussed here.
Romneys lack of attention to missionary work is.

Do you think he can't answer the questions or is it an embarrassment thing?

He's being a missionary by example, of course!

Mormon celebrities don't need to follow the same rules as the general membership. When you reach the status of Romney, you are actually higher up the Mormon heirarchy than the prophet. People are worried about Romney taking orders from SLC. That's not gonna happen. If anything, Mormons should be concerned that the church leadership will take orders from Romney.

What kind of orders would Romney likely give the LDS church leadership?

I will assume that you understand the reasoning behind my question.

What exactly is it that we are being taught by Romney being a politician and a Mormon?
