Is the tattoo and earring ban still doctrine?

It's been several years since Hinckley gave his famous discourse on earrings and tattoos. It was a big deal at the time. Faithful women removed their surplus earrings. Men removed any earrings and covered their tattoos. I haven't heard much about it recently. Are we to assume it was only his opinion? Elder Bednar did speak a while back about a guy who dumped his girlfriend because she had multiple earrings. but I don't know if it was ever officially voted on.

Well the Church fronted their 'I'm a Latter Day Saint (thought I'd use the correct term as per the Church style guide)' campaign with a tattoo'd ear ringed skateboarder with face fuzz so one assumes they are officially acceptable.

good point. Since the I'm a Mormon campaign is published through official church channels, that should cause it to Trump the Hinckley talk.

Classic example of something that is not doctrine but it is published by the church.

Bednar didn't give her name and number did he? Sounds like that's a girl that a young, single guy could have fun with.

Ahhhhh, yes. There's nothing like a gal who can have multiple earrings.

Yep. You know what they say about a girl with multiple earrings. Actually, I don't know what they say. Does anyone know?

Back in my college days, the girls with multiple earrings were known to be easy.

At the young single adult dance in Happy Valley and looking to score a piece of female Mormon ass? Just look for the girl with more than one set of earrings.

In support of those with multiple piercings, I just changed my understated earrings for my favorite pair of flaming ones.

And I fully intend on getting a tat when I get the $$.

Voting has never been the sign of established doctrine. Publication is.
