Mormons take command in Secret Service

The U.S. Secret Service has issued new rules for its employees, who are banned from drinking alcohol at all within 10 hours of working, visiting "non-reputable" establishments while travelling and bringing foreigners to their hotel rooms.

The tightened conduct rules apply to agents and other Secret Service employees while they are travelling for work, even if they are not on duty.

The new behaviour policies are the agency's latest attempt to shake off a prostitution scandal that surfaced as President Barack Obama was headed to a Latin American summit in Cartagena, Colombia.

The embattled Secret Service director, Mark Sullivan, on Friday urged agents and other employees to “consider your conduct through the lens of the past several weeks.”

Sullivan said the rules “cannot address every situation that our employees will face as we execute our dual-missions throughout the world.” He added: “The absence of a specific, published standard of conduct covering an act or behaviour does not mean that the act is condoned, is permissible or will not call for — and result in — corrective or disciplinary action.”

“All employees have a continuing obligation to confront expected abuses or perceived misconduct,” Sullivan said.

Ethics classes will be conducted for agency employees next week.

Those rules only when they are on traveling assignments.

If they were your body guards, what rules would you impose?

If they were mine, I would insist that they pay for what they buy, traveling or not.

May they visit "non-reputable" establishments in homeland?

This is clearly academic question. Simply I don't know.
Fortunately, I wasn't ever in such position, and didn't ever want to be, on either side.

Private story. I was trained as radar technician, later engineer.
One of my classmates in military college became the case/coat carrier of a general. Factotum, secretary, slut provider and such. At 25th anniversary of our graduation we called him lackey, renegade of our profession. He wasn't offended, laughed only. "I can settle up everything; my incoming is the triple of yours, don't counted the fringe benefits... " - said. " (He used a word I could translate as booties.) Later - after a few drink - he said "Want one of you put somebody out of the way?"

Guards can not be guarded. Never ever. There are everywhere around the backdoors, and the guards are who know them best. It is their task to know them.

You know, the old Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Clinton solved it within doors.

U.S. Sen. Susan Collins and U.S. Rep. Carolyn Maloney suggested Sunday that diversifying the male culture of the Secret Service with more female agents would probably discourage behaviors like the ones that led to the recent prostitution scandal.

Maloney, D-N.Y., appearing with Collins on ABC’s "This Week with George Stephanopoulos," noted that only 11 percent of Secret Service agents are women.

"I can’t help but wonder if there were more women who had been part of this detail (in Colombia) if this would have ever happened," said Collins, R-Maine.
What? If there were more woman in Secret Service? On occasion the female colleagues are given?

Paying for what you take can prevent a lot of problems.
