What have you learned from Blixa?

Post by _MrStakhanovite »

Blixa is one of the most informed and kind hearted posters on this board, her scope of learning is wide as it is deep and she never hesitates to share such learning, even to those whom scorn her the most. This thread is dedicated to those of us who have learned something from Blixa and wish to share what exactly we’ve learned.

One thing I’ve taken away, is that she puts Adorno into praxis with her studies into the Mountain Meadows Massacre, her grace in the retelling of history isn’t cheap because she knows that to mishandle the stories of the past will deprive the victims of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints the meaning of their suffering. There may be many ways to tell a story, but the responsibility is to those who died by Mormon hands and woe to those who turn that story into something self-serving.

Bllixa's updates on Facebook always attract my attention, love them!!

Plus ditto everything you said in your first paragraph. Don't know much about MMM.

That a radical feminist non-conformist who freely uses Marxist analysis is not going to bite someone like me.

I have learned there are really bright people in this world that will take time to answer a question, give a clear response and make the questioner feel good about him/herself at the same time.

Now if only she were not a Utah fan.

Blixa is one of about twenty people on this board I look forward to reading. She's given me more than a few book/movie/website recommendations and I've been richer for following through on them.

While she gets a lot of praise for what she teaches others, I appreciate her own receptiveness and malleability, as well as her willingness to take a reasoned stand. Most important for me, though, is that she's one of the most genuine people here.

The following list summerizes what I've learned from Blixa. I hope I don't misrepresent her.

1. When you hear about some historic person you don't know of, take the time look them up and read about them.
2. There are good things about Mormonism. We just need to spend quality time to look for them.
3. God can be a part of our wandering life, even if we just imagine it.
4. A beautiful woman portrayed on the screen is not an object to feast our eyes on. She is a woman to feast our eyes on. (is this one okay?... I don't think she intended to teach me this...)
5. To look at color.
6. She gave me the courage to pick up the scissors again.

I am still pretty much a newbie on here and don't know many of you.

But I do know that I always absolutely love reading any of Blixa's comments.

Has she written a book on Mountain Meadows Massacre? I would love to read anything she has written on this subject!

She has many projects, but details can't be posted out in the open. Feel free to PM her about MMM topics, she has a gift for the gab when it comes to her projects.

I like it when she talks nasty in chat. Hell yeah, she knows how to talk dirty. I talk dirty too in chat. Anyone ever notice that? Hell yeah!
