God wants you to fear Him?

Do you love God, or do you fear God? Heaven knows you're not capable of both. Which pleases God more? Why?

Like I said, it's an S&M thing, you just wouldn't understand.

This was one of the questions that unraveled things for me. I knew fear and love could not coexist (not healthily anyway).
Mormon God likes obedience the most. He'll take it any way he can get it.

If there is a God, it can go F* itself.
I guess that means that I nether love nor fear God.
Then again, I'm an atheist so I don't know what I'm doing in this thread except to stir up trouble.

The way I understand it is the way you fear hurting any loved one, because you love them. Most often described in Christianity as "holy fear", and being one of the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit. A quick google and I found this blog entry that describes it well.

The god of the Bible is an evil murderous monster. I could never love such a horrific being. And I don't fear it either. Everything about the god of the Bible turns me off. He is bloodthirsty and delights in the shedding of blood. How many ways can god kill someone and watch them suffer? He delights in it!
I spit in the face of the Bible god. I would never bow my knees to that bastard, not now and not ever. I am my own god and love my self. I don't need that crazed murderer in my life. So, take the Bible and that god and flush them right down the toilet.

Yeah! Mormon God is male, after all.

I never looked at the word "fear" in this context as to literally be afraid of him.

Good question. If God would willingly throw unworthy souls into eternal flames, then torment was justified for souls choosing incorrectly. This entire scenario assumes the accepted norm for "God" is defined correctly via some structured organized religion. What it fails to acknowledge is that God gets what God wants. God wants Buddhists. God wants Christians. God wants Atheists. God even wants Mormons... for what I can't F'ing understand, but they exist so God must want it. What God wants is up to God and the assumption that hell exists is the fatal flaw in my opinion. If hell doesn't exist and life is a lesson to the soul, then what one chose doesn't mean dick... what you learned is what's important. The assumption that we are all "mature" souls is an incorrect assumption in my opinion... we're all in Kindergarten as far as souls go [/2cents].

I should add that I really was afraid of God.
