Premarital sex is a-okay, per general authorities

"I believe in concubinage, or some plan whereby men and women can live together under sacred ordinances and vows until they can be married.... such a condition would have to be kept secret, until the laws of our government change to permit the holy order of wedlock which God has revealed, which will undoubtedly occur at no distant day, in order to correct the social evil...." - George Q. Cannon

"I have no doubt but concubinage will yet be practiced in this church, but I had not thought of it in this connection. When the nations are troubled good women will come here for safety and blessing, and men will accept them as concubines." - Pres. Snow

"If men enter into some practice of this character to raise a righteous posterity, they will be justified in it..." - Pres. Woodruff

Call off that wedding, Brad & Angelina. The law concubinage has you covered.

Gay Mormons could use this argument to defend their gay sex acts. "such a condition would have to be kept secret, until the laws of our government change to permit the holy order of wedlock."

You have to hand it to those first generation Mormons. They didn't mince any words when it came to defending what they viewed as their right to wives and concubines.

I did notice that Woodruff added the qualifier "to raise a righteous posterity". I think that phrase reveals some of their thinking when it came to how they viewed their "rights". In a way, they saw themselves as the great breeding bulls of the restored kingdom of God upon the earth, given the charge to spread their seed as far and wide as possible.

Thus saith the Lord, let my servant Brigham Young be given many women to comfort him daily. Let him go into the women and raise up seed unto me. Amen.

It's one thing to speculate on what the doctrine regarding concubines might be if established in modern times. It's quite another for there to be no doctrine on the matter other than the ancient practice (no details given though) was justified by God as you can plainly see in the scriptures (Old Testament, D&C).

So, the upshot is that all your premarital and homosexual sex is still sin, not being authorized by God. And it's interesting to me to see that while you guys speculate on "do it whenever, wherever, and with whoever you will free sex", the speculations by LDS have more to do with actual commitments, covenants, and family rather than the act itself.

I'd say you antiMormons have demonstrated a far greater preoccupation with sex than any LDS person who ever lived; approaching even that of the monkeys at the zoo.

You seem to be fighting a strawman. I'm just saying, and the Lord's anointed agree with me, that shacking up is approved of God.

Built by you and others, yes.

I'm just saying, and the Lord's anointed agree with me, that shacking up is approved of God.

The OP didn't present any evidence of that nor has any been presented since. Feel free to read my previous post more carefully to see why that is the case.

Since there is no doctrine on the matter, we are free to speculate.

I'd say you antiMormons have demonstrated a far greater preoccupation with sex than any LDS person who ever lived; approaching even that of the monkeys at the zoo.

Today's lesson I learned on Mormon Discussions: monkeys at the zoo are a subset of LDS people.

D&C 132 established concubinage. There was no manifesto ever rescinding it. Ergo, Bradgelina don't need to marry. They're not living in sin.

Case closed.
