Did the penalties ever leave the temple?

The signs of the penalties are still there. They don't tell you what they mean now, but the grisly symbols are still held aloft by thousands of temple goers five days a week.
Does that mean members are still under the obligation of the penalty oaths? Could we all end up like Thomas Coleman if we reveal the signs and tokens?

Tom Hanks and his crew for "Big Love" didn't have anything happen.

Tuesday - Saturday
Or is it open Monday during the day? I've always gone on the weekends.

So it remains an unused option?

Good news Buffalo, there is no boogeyman. Nor is there an anthropormophic God and resurrected angels in yonder heavens to ever know if you have kept or violated covenants as a part of a process that was concocted from a human mind in the first place.
The only covenant you can violate is one that you make with yourself and with your sense of fairness, equity and respect for life.

They weren't when I went through with my daughter last summer.
The token signs are there, but not any mention or signs of the penalties.

Signs are how you arrange your hands in the endowment after receiving each level, as opposed to handclasps, right? Or are they tokens? It's been a couple of years. I thought the handshakes were tokens. In any case, the thumb in a certain position represents a knife, the hand in a certain position represents something to catch your bowels as they fall out of your body.
