In an interesting discussion ongoing at MDDB regarding the alleged hit piece tubed by MI, Why Me makes the mistake of locking horns with Mercy and Grace:

Why Me initiates:

I would hope that you will challenge the more mocking and bashing posts on the other board now that you are posting there. People on that board do need some saving. However, if you ignore or show support for their more rabid posts, I may find you to be a hypocrite.

M&G responds trenchantly:

Why me, how you find me is irrelevant. How God finds me matters.

Why Me launches a salvo of marginally relevant questions:

For example, who would you want to save? On the other board, there are exmos and NOMs. Are they fair game to save? And would you be trying to save them and bring them back into the fold? Or are we over here fair game for you to save?

M&G clarifies with a question:

Who does God want to save?

I'm with Him.

There is no us v. them in my worldview, Why Me. Here's how I see things:

My dear brethren of the priesthood, my beloved fellow disciples of the gentle Christ, should we not hold ourselves to a higher standard? As priesthood bearers, we must realize that all of God’s children wear the same jersey. Our team is the brotherhood of man. This mortal life is our playing field. Our goal is to learn to love God and to extend that same love toward our fellowman. We are here to live according to His law and establish the kingdom of God. We are here to build, uplift, treat fairly, and encourage all of Heavenly Father’s children.

Also, for what it's worth, I can't save anyone and I have no delusions to that end. I can only be what I believe. If you see me behaving in a way that is unseemly on the other board, feel free to call me out.

Why Me responds to another poster who sticks up for M&G:

I understand. But I think that she will be posting there a little more now because she has found a friend. And that is fine. It is just that I have found that people who quote verses about never giving up on someone etc, tend to ignore the people who actually need saving when they are posting on the internet. Words are just words but actions are actions. Lets see what happens.

M&G responds (at this point I have to revert to quotation marks because the screen is bouncing up and down so much I can't quote what I want to):

"I have several friends over there with whom I've had infrequent contact via PM. That was the whole point in registering there some time ago.

"Again, I reissue my invitation. If you see me behaving in any way that is incongruous with what I believe as a disciple of Christ, you point it out."

I'm not going to put on a jersey you designed just because you decided life is a team sport and some people are on the opposing side.

Nor will I defend someone I know nothing about.

"There is a reason I avoid posting on threads about personalities. With one exception, I have done little delving into the personal writings and online behavior of anyone, that exception was per invitation.

"I come online to discuss the gospel and to interact with friends in a positive way.

"I love the gospel.

"If you love Daniel and have a relationship with him the compels you to speak up for him, then do so. In my recollection, he and I have never even exchanged words so I have no basis for participating in discussions that center around him, regardless of his character."

Sorry, poor choice of words, especially given how creepy Why Me is.

I appreciate Mercy n Grace's attitude towards our lot.

I agree, Spurven. M&G reminds me what it all was supposed to be about in my view--making the world a better place by being a better person in following the example of Christ.

MercyandGrace seems to be a kind and charitable person.

However, may I try gently to detach those qualities from her religious allegiance (remember that Pahoran would also say that he 'loves the Gospel')?

I have known Jews, Hindus, Buddhists and life-long atheists who have exhibited a degree of kindness and charity that has made me wish I was more like them. Decency and kindness are not dependent on religious belief, even thought decent and kind people with religious belief structures tend to articulate their moral and personal qualities through those structures.

I hate m&g, she makes me want to go back.
