Wait. The White Horse prophecy isn't doctrine?

you know the prophecy that one day the constitution will hang by a thread, and the brethren will have to save it? I have heard this prophecy consistently from childhood up to the present time, in many different wards in various states.
In this article, the church says it is not taught.
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/05 ... Page3.htmlThe LDS church is eager to see the White Horse conversations stop.
“The Church perspective is this: It’s not our doctrine, it’s not taught in our meetings, and as we’ve said repeatedly, it’s not relevant to who we are as a people,” church spokesman Michael Purdy said in an email. “We’re certainly aware that there is a national (and perhaps international) conversation going on about the Church and its beliefs. We want to answer questions for those who have them but stay out of the politics.”
I can understand the church wanting to distance themselves from this prophecy when talking to the media. But I think Michael Purdy is lying when he says "it's not taught in our meetings." do these guys ever attend an actual church meeting? Do they not have their pulse on current Mormon beliefs and what the members are talking about?

A quick Google search will confirm that Purdy is lying about this being taught in meetings.
http://institute.LDS.org/manuals/presid ... hr-1-2.asphttp://institute.LDS.org/manuals/church ... tch-20.aspIt is also taught in church magazines, for teachers who like to teach from those.

Well, more power to you if you can find it taught in a doctrinal work. It's not found in the first two links you gave. The third link you gave is the closest but it uses the word "may", not "will" and only refers to the fact that people have heard of it. I suspect the reason why you didn't provide any actual quotes is that you don't want people to know you're lying which is a common anti Mormon tactic.

Why do you think Purdy is lying to the media about this being taught? Is it embarrassing? Are you embarrassed by it?

I see you still have no specific quotes.

I think what DarkHelmet did was search on constitution thread, got three hits, and posted the links without reading them.

Found hereShare the following statement of Brigham Young about the Constitution of the United States:
“The general Constitution of our country is good, and a wholesome government could be framed upon it, for it was dictated by the invisible operations of the Almighty. . . .
“Will the Constitution be destroyed? No; It will be held inviolate by this people; and, as Joseph Smith said, ‘the time will come when the destiny of the nation will hang upon a single thread; at that critical juncture, this people will step forth and save it from the threatened destruction.’ It will be so” (Journal History, July 4, 1854, Archives of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints).
