I hardly ever start a thread- as a nevermo with tbm my wife i come here and go to rfm to observe and encourage and quietly empathize.
i wonder if there are theological or other implications for LDS/ex-lds men (and women) concerning the following:
i just finisished a men's retreat ,mostly rc's, given by franciscan fr richard rohr. the theme was male initiation rites and the lack thereof, and the lack of wisdom teachers(men) in our western society that have created, to put it bluntly males who wander around in life trying to satisfy their ego needs by power, control, success $$$$,toys and sex.
at one point in his presetnation richard said "every male is proud of his erect penis"- i do not think he meant it as a throw away line but that there was something important and pertintent spiritually and physically and relationally about that statement.
i know in the rc chruch men are not supposed to have erect penii outside marriage- it is a mortal (will send you to hell) sin to masturbate, think about masturbating or having sex outside marriage with a playmate or any other woman, or actually doing it, or watching pornography, or abusing one's wife sexually whatever that means.
so men is it true in your LDS or other experience to be proud of your erect penis &what the hell does that mean ?
ladies may chime in if they are proud of their man's erect penis-why would they be proud?
i have no answers
k

Absoute BS.

He said it,, didn't he? Just because a man gets turned on does not mean he is sinning. It is what he does or doesn't do with it that makes the difference. And in marriage, it is a good thing if his wife is receptive.

Uhhh, this is a strange thread.
I s'pose there is pride in having a fully functional cock, just as there seems to be some shame/embarrassment in having one that doesn't work properly.

I'm proud of mine and really like it a lot. All men should love themselves and love and nurture their own bodies. The LDS church essentially teaches a man to be ashamed of his penis. They do that to keep you down and promote guilt. Religion needs to have people to feel guilty in order to fully brainwash them.

This is a profound statement, Paul. You make a very sound point here. I believe that the LDS Church does essentially teach both men AND women to be ashamed of their sexuality and their bodies. I was honestly glad that I had masturbated before I got married. If I hadn't, I would not have been able to communicate to my husband what felt good. There is nothing wrong with that! I think that the reason that some women, LDS women, in particular, have a difficult time reaching orgasm is due to lack of education.
Of course, I think that there is still an "old school" thought among the older brethren that women achieving orgasm is of no consequence as long as they can become pregnant.
I would like to see the whole masturbation rule abolished. It is stupid.

I don't know if I'm proud of my erect penis. But I do know that my erect penis is proud of me.

I certainly agree with every point you made, Liz. Sexual desires and needs for women are very important and the church does nothing to promote this need in the priesthood lessons of the church. The priesthood should have a lesson on the importance of women receiving their needs met in whatever ways work best in the relationship. But as it is, sex is pretty much a nasty business in Mormonism other than for making babies and having that special time once in a while for couples to take their garments off and then quickly put them back on as if to cover their shame. Mormonism basically teaches that the naked body is a shameful thing to expose and that's why they cover them with those hideous garments and then brand them with Masonic symbols that Joseph Smith stole from the lodge.
Anyway, sex is a wonderful thing when shared between consenting adults and the church has no business telling people what they can or can't do in bed. The church should simply say, "Have a good time and be happy" . . . . .

Or that they MUST share a bed.

It sounds like you have a healthy relationship with your penis but I would encourage you to get to know it better. The more you learn about it the more you can appreciate it. It's really a wonderful tool in promoting happiness and well being.
Sadly, the Mormon church teaches men to keep their hands off their penis because that in itself causes a man to be depressed and unhappy because they aren't getting some basic needs met. This helps with the brainwashing process in making people feel dirty and immoral when they do slip up and masturbate and keeps them in the mode of confession and submission to the cult leaders. The Mormon church practice of teaching their people that masturbation is wrong is a sick and evil practice. It is worse than stealing and telling lies! It robs the people of happiness and keeps people locked up in guilt. The Mormon church has hurt a lot of souls and will one day have to answer for this hideous practice. Teaching youth not to masturbate and to feel guilty and ashamed when doing it is an abomination. It should be considered a crime and a serious offence. The Mormon church commits crimes on a daily basis as they molest the youth of the church and brainwash them with the sick ideal in which they have invented.
