New Restrictions at MDDB

Has anyone else noticed this?
You've exceeded the maximum number of pages views (10) you can open as a
guest. To remove this message and become a member please
register a free account or
login. It will only take a few moments and you'll be able to view board normally. The restriction will be disabled at
04 June 2012 - 06:17 PM.
I am sure it was done for the benefit of those here who like to lurk and poke fun at the MAD board.
One thing that Dan G forgot to take into consideration is that it could also prevent people from viewing things in context. It could also prevent simple lurkers who have no dog in any fight but who are not interested in registering for an account access to lurk.
Of course, Dan G, who has the social skills of a box of hair, overlooked these things when making this change.

I think they are wanting new members for their board. There are consequences for bad behavior on their part.

Has anybody made a record of current number of active posters? We could compare and see if there is a decline. Stats on board activity are available somewhere on the 'net, but I am not interested enough to look it up.

I've seen it as well. I don't understand the decision. I imagine that some lurkers will simply lose interest, and many new guests will not have an interest in creating an account after a mere 10 page views. They will just simply move on.
in my opinion it will hurt the usage for MD&D. Which is what makes this decision strange because those people will likely just end up reading somewhere else. Somewhere less favorable. I think the appeal of the message boards is at least you have the idea that you're getting both sides of the story.
I predict they'll reverse this move within two weeks.

I guess it could also help prevent those who have been banned from reading the board as a guest. Although I've never understood their desire to keep people from reading the board.

It may also prevent people from finding posts through Google. That may save some top-tier Mopologists some embarrassment, especially from their recent criticisms of GAs.

In order to prevent posts being found through Google, they would have to go to a more off the grid server and site name. They would also have to completely privatise it....In other words, not allow anyone to even view the site unless they are registered members.
This is kind of IT 101. If Dan G is not aware of this, he is even dumber than I thought.

You mean, more like 'scared, not secret'?

When that fails to work, they'll move camp to a desolate area of Texas and build a temple with huge walls. Maybe a bed inside.
The time for boards like MDDB is over. Boards like mine, MD, PM, NOM - these are the boards that are thriving. Boards that allow open discussion.
MDDB is like living in a prison camp. Soon it'll just turn into another Skinny L full of elites like Peterson who will write long winded diatribes so others can read it back to him.

Indeed. I am just happy to be a liberated POW.

Ironic that many defenders over there say that it is always necessary to respond to "Anti" arguments because of the lurkers, now the lurkers are also being cut back.
