Forty-six percent of Americans believe that God created humans in their present form at one point within the past 10,000 years, according to a survey released by Gallup on Friday.

The second most common view is that humans evolved with God's guidance - a view held by 32% of respondents. The view that humans evolved with no guidance from God was held by 15% of respondents.

It is sad that only 15% of those surveyed have a clue about evolution. What does this say about the stranglehold religion has over American education?

I didn't realize those numbers haven't been improving. It is frustrating to watch those who believe evolution contradicts their religion.

I recently watched this interesting show:

DNA Mysteries: Search for Adam

Of course this Adam is not necessarily the Adam who fell.

It's strange because people learn this stuff in school, and I think if you had a similar poll asking people if they believed the earth was billions of years old, and man has been on the earth for over ten thousand years, you would get more than half that agree with it. I think there is a large percentage of people that compartmentalize their scientific brain and their religious brain. When I was younger I had a guy in the bishopric that was also a college biology professor. I took a biology class from him. He taught about evolution, but in church he taught about Adam and Eve. It was weird.
