I don't get it. This article says that Utah is no different, in this respect, from the rest of the United States. How does this say something sad about "family values" in Utah?

I make it a practice to apply a veneer of objectivity onto my posts, strictly for plausible deniability purposes, of course. Got to be a clever evildoer to survive when you are surrounded by good people wielding the Spirit of Discernment, as I'm sure you can attest.

May be the point is that in a state dominated by a religion that heavily promotes family values one would expect to see a difference. Similar to how Utah's always up toward the top in health statistics which is clearly a result of the WoW.

Maybe I'm just too far gone, but I have no such lofty expectations of Mormonism, and whatever "family values" it happens to promote. To the extent that LDS values are different from other communities in the U.S., the LDS negatives are apparently cancelling out its positives and producing the same statistical results when it comes to teen suicide.

This is certainly evidence against the proposition that the LDS in Utah have a better way to prevent teen suicide than the rest of the country, but I guess I'm not surprised enough by that to have an emotional response.

This is tremendous news. Teenagers in a Western country contemplating suicide!

Next we will hear that teenage boys in Utah get uncontrolled erections and that some teenage girls are bulimic. That will surely be the nail in the coffin of Mormonism.
