What do you know is true?

Some years ago, I remember walking to the store with a non-LDS lawyer friend of mine when he asked me out of the blue, "What do you know to be true?"
I responded without missing a beat, "That Jesus is the Christ and that Joseph Smith is his prophet."
He was a bit taken aback, saying he thought I would say something like I love my wife.
I don't know whether I would answer the same way today, but was interested in finding out from members of the board what (if anything) they would say they know to be true.
All the Best!

That Magic: the Gathering is the most entertaining card game ever invented.

That was big when my kids were younger, and because they were really into it, I decided I should get into it, too, so we could play together. We had lots of fun, and I agree with you it is a fantastic game.
I think I got too into it, reading a book about it and building some awesome decks. I remember having a black and blue deck that would leave other wizards black and blue.
Getting back to the subject of the thread, though, I think this would count as your personal subjective view. While I happen to agree with you on this, I was hoping for less subjective things that a person might know to be true. Got any of those?

That's a tougher one. I imagine that for everything that one knows to be true, some naysayer somewhere will disagree.

Never heard of it. Don't want to derail this thread, but I'm really interested in the game because you recommend it so highly. We're sick of Phase10 in my family and have been looking for a new favorite game. Could you start a thread about it in the Off Topic forum?
Thanks,
Ludd

How about that Trevor/Mister Scratch/Kishkumen/Doctor Scratch are a single god in three manifestations?

I see I am already running into difficulties with this thread.
If we say that we know something is true, we obviously can't let the errant naysayer have the last word in a tyranny of the minority.
In other words, I think we don't need to have absolute consensus on any subject for it to be something we know to be true.
What somebody else thinks has nothing to do with truth.
But if that is correct, then should we not also say that nothing we think has anything to do with truth.
And if this is correct, can anybody say that they know anything is true?
All the Best!

Let me give this a go with something I know to be true--Knowledge is superior to ignorance.
Maybe we can go from there, though some wag will no doubt presently taunt me with the aphorism that ignorance is bliss.

I know this is not true, for you have just listed
four manifestations of the single God.
Heretic.

Are you prepared to devote a considerable amount of your life to this pursuit?
Turn back before it is too late.

I know mathematical identities are true, which is a tautology.
I wonder what consig's neighbor would have thought of that answer? Probably, Honey - get the kids, we are moving. The neighbor has lost it.
