"'Salt Lake Public Affairs has notified us of their work with a reporter from Reuters on a story being written regarding Church finances. Reuters staff has done a lot of work on this, trying to develop formulas to estimate the Church’s yearly income from tithes, the value of Church buildings around the world, and the worth of other Church assets such as agricultural property.
"'The story is expected to be published soon and likely will generate interest with other media who will want to do their own version of this topic. Thus, we are advised to be alert for possible media contacts. BECAUSE OF THE NATIONAL SCOPE OF THIS STORY, HEADQUARTERS NEEDS TO MANAGE ALL RELATED INQUIRIES. ACCORDINGLY, TO ENSURE PROMPT AND APPROPRIATE RESPONSE, IMMEDIATELY REFER THE CONTACT TO [deleted], DIRECTOR OF MEDIA RELATIONS, AND NOTIFY ME SO THAT WE MAINTAIN LOCAL COORDINATION.'"
Reuters have been investigating the finances of the Church and are at some point going to publish an article. I suspect this contributed to the disclaimer appearing on the new tithing slips.

I wonder why the church would send out this type of memo. Especially when it appears that Reuters is just doing an estimation.

Hopefully one day I'll find out what they were doing with my money.

Last time I did some math on it, the church recieved 5billion a year just from missionaries families paying the monthily allotment.

The Church in the UK receives circa £27 million per annum in tithing donations from a claimed membership of 190,000.
(from published accounts)
Doing a simplified extrapolation of that ratio puts Church tithing income worldwide at something in the region of £2 billion.
Given that the UK is probably on the low side in comparison the the US, we can say with a degree of common sense, that worldwide tithing income will be somewhere between $3 and $4 billion.
