If Mitt wins, will the Secret Service be allowed in temple?

Post by _Polygamy-Porter »

Think about this.

The security at LDS temples is about as good as what you find at Wal-mart, if not worse.

If Mitt wins, and he needs to do stake temple night with his wife, will the secret service be allowed into the so-sacred-its secret temple ceremony?

I bet there will be a big rotation of agents in the Secret Service from Gentiles to Elders.

I suspect that IF Mitt were President (it's not gonna happen) my guess is IF he were to attend the temple he would go through in a very special session with "The Brethren" with little, if any Secret Service. MAYBE one agent who was LDS. Maybe.

I suppose that the military attache who carries around the nuclear
launch codes/apparatus would have to be LDS and have a TR. It
would look really bad, if Mitt was in a secret meeting with The LDS
Brethren and Iran or North Korea hit the US with atomic bombs --
and Mitt suffered through a fifteen minute delay, getting into
his street clothes and outside the temple doors, to retaliate.

Which brings up an interesting question. Could Mitt take his blackberry
and/or cell phone into the Washington, D.C. Temple, if he had periodic
meetings with high level GAs there?

And, if Mitt was allowed to do that, could Harry Reid bring in his
cell phone and use the camera to take a few pictures there?

No, they'd never allow the sickle and hammer into the Temple.

This has been discussed here before, as well as at the FAIR conference a few years ago. George Bush's primary media liaison was LDS and explained that the logistical problems would make temple attendance an impossibility for an LDS president. To anticipate the knee-jerk response: no, it doesn't mean he would be a bad Mormon who would be shirking his responsibilities, it just means he would have an incredibly important and incredibly unique job that would preclude attending the temple, and the world would somehow keep on spinning.

But what about him having a place to dwell on the decisions he needs to make?

I have it on good authority there is a Masonic chapel in the rotunda above the Capitol. I'm sure Rmoney can practice his handshakes there.

There is nothing to worry about here. The only place where the population really thinks Romney has the slightest chance of winning is Utah. Rupert Murdock (principal owner of Fox News) has even tweeted that Romney can't win.

Right now Obama is setting at about 240 Electoral Votes and Romney has about 190 sewn up. With 270 as the magic number, Obama only has to take Florida (or Ohio, or Pennsylvania) and one or two other small count States to win.

Romney, on the other hand, pretty much has to sweep the swing States to win, and there is no chance of that happening now that the electorate has taken a look at him, not liked what they saw, and headed back to the incumbent.

Poll after poll shows that the big count swing States of Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania, are moving steadily into the Obama Camp. Obama is now ahead in all three and pulling away, especially in Florida. The Romney campaign can't hope match the Obama organization in Florida, regardless of the money they have to spend. I worked on this team in 2008 and it was good then. It is better now. There are a lot of wealthy liberal Jews down in Florida who really do not like Romney - and they are fired up, as are the hispanics and other minorities.

So if you were worried about this bit of trivia, don't be. There are much better things to do with your time.

The Masonic 33 Degree initiation is performed in DC.
