Ann Romney: "We've given all you people need to know."
Ann Romney has apparently borrowed a page from the book used by the Brethren when it comes to Mormon Finances and the finances of Mormons, saying "We've given all you people need to know" (about Romney family finances).
This is her response to repeated requests by Democrats (and now several prominent Republicans, as well) for the Mittster to release his federal tax returns for the last ten years. Mitt seems dead set against releasing them, even in the face of Republican and News media requests for him to do so.
Reaction to her remarks in Washington DC was swift, and as far as I can see, uniformly negative. One commenter asked what the effect would have been on Barack Obama's campaign if he had refused to release his tax returns as a candidate.
If this is a preview of the way in which Romney's Mormon background and beliefs are likely to affect the way he would approach the presidency, then he is in for a long and tough campaign. People don't like him already and with a wife that refers to the American middle class as "you people", I think they will like him even less.
I am sure that Mitt and Ann have no clue how inappropriate this Mormonesque attitude seems to ordinary Americans. Keep it up and they will soon find out.

Is it American law that presidential candidates must release their tax filings?

No, but Democrats in Congress are trying to change that.

She really expects "you people" to vote for her husband?
Next, she'll say, "Let those people eat cake."

My personal favorite is still the time that Sister Romney declared that she didn't feel rich.

Nope, not law, just very longstanding tradition.
It's clear that Romney has made a calculation that despite the huge amount of negative press he's getting for not releasing his tax returns, releasing them would be worse for his campaign. I don't know what's in them, but that fact alone speaks volumes.

Virtually all of the Democrat representatives who have called for Romney to release more information themselves have been withholding similar information. Obama himself jealously guards pertinent information such as his birth certificate, college transcripts, and other papers.
The solution is simply for the Romney campaign to point this out. He could even say "Ill show you mine if you show me yours" but that is not required.
Bottom line, those making the most noise asking for the information are hypocrites, a standard property for a Democrat or other liberal.

The birth certificate thing never bothered me so I choose not to be bothered by the tax thing.

Ann also states that saint like husband Mitt didn't draw a salary whilst working on the Olympics. Guess Mitt kept that whole Bain $100,000 handout secret from her...

This further reinforces the Church's position that women should stay in the home. Has the Romney's followed that advice Ann would have been too busy cleaning to be interviewed in the first place...
