Interesting hit on the
LDS Church and politics. Made me wonder if bcspace stance of conservative or hell stance was in direct opposition to the LDS Church.
Pertinent part : "Principles compatible with the gospel may be found in the platforms of the various political parties."

And it's from President Newsroom! Doesn't get any more "official" than that, according to President Newsroom and bcspace, that is.

Notice that none were mentioned specifically and if I had to guess if they were, they would actually be values. Modus operandi is the key. Both sides want to help the poor, they share the same value in that respect. But the Left does it by stealing and robbing others of agency and freedom; thereby eliminating the possibility of charity. The modus operandi of the Right in this area is completely neutral as would be expected from those who believe in opposition in all things. Free market capitalism maintains the highest of Gospel values and standards because if there is evil, it is not in the system like it is in Socialism, it is exclusively with the individual. It is no surprise that the Law of Consecration, not an economic system, eschews socialism and the government dole and it's highest principle is private property and requires free market capitalism in order to work.
Bottom line: No change in my philosophy which mirrors official LDS doctrine. Any Mormon who votes for a Democrat or anyone to the left of them in this day and age is a traitor to God and country be he prophet or apostle or nursery leader and cannot get a temple recommend without lying on this question:
Do you support, affiliate with, or agree with any group or individual
whose teachings or practices are contrary to or oppose those accepted by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?
I do give a pass to older generations such as Faust because they grew up in an era when it was possible to be a Democrat and not necessarily be supporting anti Gospel philosophies. But that window is rapidly shrinking as a man ought to know who or what he is voting for and the Democratic party is in all ways now in opposition to Jesus Christ.

Good. Out with Jesus! The bastard is dead and he is not coming back. I don't want Jesus around and don't want him in politics either. Cancel his ass. Burn the Bible!
I'm an antichrist! You got that right. To hell with Jesus. I vote Jesus OUT!

bcspace,
You really believe that there is no evil in free market capitalism? How do you figure? We're living FMC rigt now, and the evil is in the corporations being allowed to be "people" and workers not being fairly compensated for work performed. Really?

You'll get much more in the way of fidelity to free market capitalism out of Gary Johnson compared to Mitt Romney. Sure, that's imperfect too since your arguments beeline right into anarcho-capitalism, but it is a far better choice as far as that goes. And yet you go with Satan's right hand agency destroying man, Romney. Repent. Vote Johnson.

Really. We are NOT FMC right now. Witness Obamacare which is pricing American jobs out of the market (just the expectation of it has been doing that for the last several years). There is NO EVIL in FMC. Only individuals bring evil with them in FMC. Socialism itself is inherently evil so all are corrupted; the reason why Satan's plan doesn't work and why the Law of Consecration can't work in a socialist system.

I have heard that Hinckley and Maxwell were registered Democrats. Didn't Benson say something to the effect, and I am paraphrasing, that it was impossible to be a Democrat to have a worthy standing in the church? If this is true, this statement alone probably forced all LDS Democrats to go into hiding about their political views. Including leaders.
By the way, I find it interesting that LDS people are vehemently opposed to anything that slightly resembles Socialism while at the same time pining for Jesus to return and institute the law of consecration thereby taking care of everyone.
