What part(s) of Joseph's magic would you incorporate today?

Last night, I was lightly reading in Quinn's Magic book while waiting for my 3-yr old to fall asleep. I was reminded of how important magic was to many of the early Saints, including the Smith family. I started to wonder what it would be like to incorporate more of this magic in today's LDS belief system.

Here goes the "what-if" scenario. If you were actively participating in LDS (for whatever reason), might you find it beneficial to incorporate some of the early Mormon magic into your participation? If so, what?

Thank you!

Zee.

Crystal ball, and magic compass ala Jack Sparrow. Being the seerstones and liahona respectively.

That is a very interesting question. I like the way you think Zee.

With the advent of so much modern technology, we don't have much use for water rods or a lot of the other magical items they found so useful in the 19th century, but I would most definitely be interested in acquiring a working seer stone.

Garments that actually provide some protection.

Oh, and please keep in mind that magic can be considered spiritually, in the case of my OP.

Please don't let your preconceived notions of magic get in the way of this experiment! If you are willing to believe the Book of Mormon provides some deep, powerful insight into your life, why the hell not believe a Jupiter talisman could do the same? Why the hell not?

Zee, I thought Joseph made it clear the the magic tools were for his use only. You are not supposed to use his tools.

I think getting people to believe that is the magic.Otherwise you just have a few plain pebbles.

I'd definitely go whole hog with the "seeing underground" scam -- and promote Joe Smith's
abilities in that realm as an irrefutable proof of the One True Church:

"Before metal detectors, sonar and ground-penetrating radar, young Joseph Smith
was blessed with the miracle of "distant sight," brethren. I stand before this great
Conference of the Saints to testify that it was President Smith's wonderful gift on
this account which led to his being chosen to locate and bring forth the Nephite record,

Our own scholars have researched the archives and we have discovered that the
Angel Moroni only led young Joseph to the general location of the buried golden
plates. Imagine that! President Smith was then tested -- and he passed that divine
test with flying colors! With his second sight, that young seer and revelator knew
immediately just where to dig for the treasure!

Brothers and Sisters, you have heard of great modern discoveries -- the finding
of the Titanic on the ocean floor -- the recovery of the Treasure of Atocha --
and many others. But today, with our Prophet's permission, I announce to you
that the seer stone in the First Presidency's Vault has once again been put to
a wondrous use. The Elders of the Church have at last located the spot where
the treasures of the great Temple of the Lord at Jerusalem were buried, nearly
2000 years ago.

Our BYU recovery team is on the spot -- which lies one hundred miles south
of Timbuktu -- and we expect recovery of that great hoard of gold and silver
any day now. All that is preventing its recovery is the work of Satan to thwart
the cause of righteousness. He keeps making the treasure slip away from our
diggers, but with continued sacrifices and mighty prayer.........."
