Re: ATTN: Pahoran
I hope you're able to get this worked out, Ms Jack. I had something similar happen to me, where somebody leaked private stuff without my permission. When I complained, I was told, "Karma is a bitch."

Nevermind.

Hold the phone. . . the MD&D moderators ban people for things they say in private messages??

Pahoran wrote:You weren't "capriciously banned." You were banned because (1) you called me a liar in a PM in clear violation of the rules, and (2) were so astoundingly arrogant as to draw the mods' attention to it when you whined about me.
As your own private message to me (posted above) shows, you called me a liar in private message first. Last I checked, you haven't been banned from MDDB.
Furthermore, the rules of MDDB clearly state:
"Quoting members in your signature without obtaining their permission" ... "won't be tolerated."
At the time that I reported your post, I was a member of MDDB, and you were violating the rules by quoting me in your signature without obtaining my permission. So yes, I reported your post, and I expected the moderators to side with me and uphold their own rules. I wasn't even asking them to discipline you; I just wanted the offending material removed.
But it seems I overestimated their integrity, as well as your own.
Pahoran wrote:Yes, the "sincerity" just oozes. Your utterly pro-forma "request" was absolutely safe, since as you admitted above, you already knew I hadn't been here for months.
How do you suggest I should have contacted you to discuss this affair? I didn't know when I initially PM'ed you that you never check your account here.
Pahoran wrote:If you really think quoting private correspondence is malum in se,
I don't. I think that it's malum when it's done (1) without making any attempt to contact the owner of correspondence and request permission, and (2) when the other party has not been posting publicly about the correspondence.
Pahoran wrote:then how on earth can you be anything less than the most brazen hypocrite on this issue?
See above. You were misrepresenting our correspondence. You had been asked to stop, and you had disregarded that. I had little choice but to put the entirety of it where the record could be set straight.
Pahoran wrote:You really are just a teenage girl, aren't you?
Like I said, all name-calling, no substance.
Pahoran wrote:Be that as it may, I've removed all reference to your PM from my public posts. I thought that was what you wanted. Was I wrong?
Now that hundreds of people have seen the correspondence, I just want the record set straight.

Not when their user name is "Pahoran."

So you keep saying. The reality is that the only "record" is the rather garbled one you have chosen to post. If I wanted to, I could "set the record straight" by posting the entirety of our correspondence; the record would then be a whole lot "straighter" than it is now.
But I won't. As a gesture of (entirely one-sided) good will, I have removed everything I ever posted from your PM, even three-word excerpts. If you choose not to reciprocate, then that is entirely your affair.
Note that the first time I saw your blog post was today. All I ever knew was that you didn't want me to quote you in my sig, and I removed that as soon as I found out about it.
Regards,
Pahoran
