Romney doing his best Tom Monson impersonation?

I'm posting this from my phone so I apologize for the brevity. I just heard on the radio the audio to some speech Romney gave at a rally last night and I was highly amused at Romney's general conference voice. He had TSM's cadence and mode of expression down pat. I'll try to find a clip later when I'm home, unless someone can beat me to it. It's really funny to hear.

Not only did he begin to sound like TSM, but his mannerisms also became the same as TSM. It is as if the mantle of the prophet has been transferred to him.

Here, I found it. You can just skip through and listen here and there. He's laying it on pretty thick.

They both use the same source for media training.

The product they use is Bonneville International's "Heartsell".

It is therefore unsurprising that they use similar techniques, tones, mannerisms etc for public oration.

Romney's first day as president, "One, two, three, let's go shopping." Economy fixed.

I watched that Romney speech, and I didn't really equate it with Monsons's style. Sure, he's not Obama, but he didn't come across to me like he was speaking in General Conference either. Just my opinion.

What did really bug the crap outta me though was how he constantly railed on Obama, saying that Obama hates America and whatnot. What the “F”? Where the hell do they get this idea that Obama either isn't a "real" American, or else that he hates America? This just seems to me like one of those things that is "true" within the Republican mindsphere only because they've been saying it to each other for so long.

I voted mostly Republican for most of my life, but in the last 6 or 7 years I've grown more and more disgusted with them. First for their deep and (IMHO) destructive entanglement with the religious right, and also because many Republicans seem to believe that only people who believe exactly like them can be Real Americans, and they must delegitimize everyone else. I'm sorry, but it doesn't work that way.

When I last thought it I actually thought that I was imagining it, so I found it interesting that someone else thought the same. I still think to an extent I might be projecting it onto it rather than it actually being the case. Thanks for your take on it.

When I first heard it, I had just started my car and it was coming through the radio. I wasn't expecting anything, but sat there in mild shock and amusement, picturing Romney giving a talk in the conference center. Mimicry of the general conference style is quite common even from much younger Mormon males, so I guess I shouldn't be that surprised.

Interesting comment on the "Heartsell," Drifting. I guess LDS, Inc. has even trademarked the holy ghost now, too?
