How long do you suppose it takes to break down the programming received for decades as a Mormon?

I mean there is all this stuff from shame to how we interact socially.

It's interesting to me how I will think I have one particular thing licked and an experience will occur that brings it back up.

Since there was no programming involved, it takes no time at all.

Official interrogating:
- When was you brainwashed?
- I don't remember.

Long time!

I plan to wear a tie with a shirt that isn't white and my cord jacket to church tomorrow. I grew up in an area that bred the GA-CEO look. That is, a very conservative, business class. I never went to church without a white shirt on. I feel slightly ashamed of the idea that I will be there tomorrow with a different look. In reality, nobody will give a damn. They will just be happy to see an unbaptized 9-yr old in their midst. Joking, joking...

Ludwig,

If you don't mind:

Interrogator:
- When were you brainwashed?

Survivor:
- I was brainwashed?

Another Communist era saying from behind the Iron Curtain?

Pretty funny. And pretty appropriate for many Mormons.

Is it programming or is it simply culture?

I don't really have a simple answe to this....maybe a little of both?

Just Me, what, specifically, are you having problems getting over?

There certainly is a cultural overlay to the programming, but I think it is programming.

The lesson manuals for juveniles take a very structured progression, from milk to meat.
