TBM gives talk on George Washington and Captain Moroni

I thought it was only evil Anti-mormons that drew parallels between Captain Moroni and George Washington. Recently I attended sacrament meeting with my church and the speaker gave a talk about Captain Moroni and drew parallels between him and George Washington. He quoted George Washington saying "We have taken up Arms in defence of our Liberty, our Property; our Wives and our Children." and then he paused for dramatic effect, his voice trembling, and said, "Sounds familiar doesn't it? It reminds us of a similar struggle that took place on this continent hundreds of years earlier." LOL.

Wait. Washington said that? God, I feel silly.
Hey, did George also kill all the people who wouldn't take up arms to fight? I hate that part.

Did Captain Moroni describe himself as a Libertarian, Republican or Whig? Any of these designations would pass Bcspace's muster.

??? I don't get it. Are you saying that the person in DarkHelmet's ward who originally made that statement did so sarcastically?

I'm surprised he didn't see the similarity in the 2000 stripling warriors and the Battle of Trenton. They are almost carbon copies of one another.

Actually, I think he did. I wasn't paying close attention until midway through his talk, but he did talk about the Battle of Trenton. He was a big Revolutionary War buff and the point he was driving home was how similar Captain Moroni and George Washington were. They were both military officers fighting for freedom in the Promised Land with God on their side. It sorta makes Washington an honorary Mormon and even more proof that the church is true.

It's not the Promised Land any more. It was open to anyone who could make it across the Bering Straits. Just ask DCP.

I think as long as capital punishment is involved, BC is okay with it.
