I read on another board that Grant Palmer is coming out with a paper soon on The Council of 50. Has this already been discussed on here?

Does anyone have more information regarding this?

As I read more about this, it seems Palmer's paper may touch on research into whether or not this council still exists today (a secret political organization within the church). I don't think he's trying to prove there is, but it sounds like this is at least discussed in the paper.

I just sent Grant an email with this link. Once I get his answer, I will forward it to the board.

I do know that Jed Rogers, historian and researcher extraordinaire, is doing a full length documentary book on the YTFIF about the Utah period.

Mike Quinn and Andy Ehat's articles found in BYU Studies are still the best work to date, which Jed's will supplant when his book is published.

Grant was kind enough to email me back and say that his article will be published in the John Whitmer Historical Journal in the next volume, due next month. The KWHJ is one of two of the best journals on Mormon History, I read the issues from cover to cover. Always ground breaking information. I highly recommend people joining the association.

I agree about the John Whitmer Historical Journal. I was a member of this great association but haven't rejoined this year and I need to. I loved it when this journal came in the mail and I always read it from cover to cover.

They also have a whole library of incredible books available on their website that are great to own as resources or just for very interesting reading.

I think that sometimes we forget what a great resource the "Reorganized Church" is and we just write them off or have forgotten that they have documents and histories that are very informative and interesting that aren't available through the Mormon church.

I find it very interesting that two of the splinter groups which practiced the endowment were led by men who had been in YTFIF: Wight and Cutler.

Also interesting is the large role that Native American tribes played in these plans. This lends a great deal more credence to the fact that Brigham Young used the rhetoric of wielding the Native Americans in Utah as the battle axe of the Lord against America.

Interesting stuff. They had planned it before. In Deseret they had laid the foundation of their Kingdom of God, and now they planned to implement the same program, including the use of the native tribes, against the United States.

The coordinated network of 50 LDS members of the FBI, CIA, State of Utah, SLC and Church Security officers would probably have the best handle on how much Brother Palmer knows and what can be done about it. Besides, this Council is merely a small weather forecasting service. If you see more then it is probably swamp gas.

What does YTFIF mean? Is it "fifty" spelled backwards? If so, why not just write it "50," "fifty," or "Council of Fifty?"
