And DCP will do his part, as he has now done for decades, to try and stuff the truth back in the tidy little box the LDS Church as previously had it contained, making room for Mormon fantasy narrative to flourish.

Probably one of unfortunate aspects of this is that as members we start to play along. Consider this review.

Brigham Young: Pioneer Prophet review

This book? Not so much. I have serious reservations about recommending it to the average church member; if you need your prophet to be larger than life, or even just better than the average bear, this book is not for you. I think there is a substantial risk that people raised on hagiographic, presentist images of prophets would have their testimonies rocked, if not shattered, by this book.

The reviewer is saying they can't recommend the book, because people raised on the white washed version of church history will be bothered by it. So those members will remain in the dark. Maintaining testimonies is more about than an accurate representation of history.

It is not my job to get anyone out of the church, but I will do my part to make sure the truth finds expression and is filtered to look depressing, tragic, or off-kilter, whether the LDS church likes it or not.

Who said anything about the church being tragic or depressing? Off-kilter? Obviously there is a lot wrong with an organization based on fake scriptures and founded by a bed-hopping con man, but saying so is just telling it as it is.

The great thing is that I don't have to do that at all. You're doing a fine job of making the church look depressing, tragic, and off-kilter without any help from me.
