Following in Shulem's footsteps

Post by _son of Ishmael »

After reading about Shulem's decision to officially leave the church, I have decided it was time for me to take the final step and resign from the church. The letter is typed, signed, and in the envelope ready to be sent by registered mail to the COB.

Thanks Shulem for giving me the inspiration to finally get off my arse and do what I should have done a long time ago!

However, Shulem does not seem very happy with his life. I would hope that you have more happiness than he does when you are no longer in the church.

Are you happy outside the Church fold why me?

He seems pretty happy to me. That's he not a fan of your religion does not mean he's unhappy.

You dummy. Why can you not see what is obvious?

Sure, he seems happy (one might even say he seems 'gay') to be free from the church and finally being himself. But the Lard has ensured us that wickedness is not happiness, and that man-love is wicked. Therefore, in spite of all the evidence to the contrary, he must, by definition, not really be happy. Voila!

When I first realized that the church was not true I went through the typical steps denial, anger, etc. I am now at the full acceptance step and am very happy. My wife and I look forward to living the rest of our lives enjoying every moment we can together. A few weeks ago I was driving my daughter to drop her off at her friend's house and we passed our old church building. She commented that she felt that we were closer as a family now that we have left the church. When I asked my son about that, he said the same thing. I guess that is enough for me.
