It is time for the annual Appropriate Top Quiz!
Vote on the tops that will 1. get approval from the Hierarchy, 2. just barely pass with very minimal alteration of the garment top, and 3. fail the garment test completely. Show us how savvy you are with Mormon dress code. DISREGARD THE BOTTOMS. THIS IS NOT A BOTTOM QUIZ. Good Luck!

100% no. In borderline cases, alteration of garment top is not acceptable.

Wait, really? I was thinking a lot of these could pass the test.
And what is wrong with just a little modification? I mean, just a slight gathering to raise the sleeve just a tad or lower the neckline. Nothing huge.

I was thinking 100% yes. In some cases a very little alteration might be needed, but I didn't see anything that couldn't be made to work. Well maybe the Dior would be impossible. The Olivia Palermo would require a tuck-up, but with lace sleeves I think everyone would be fine with it.
(I must say I didn't pay attention to the menswear because I don't have as much a sense of top male garments.)

Blixa-- you can cut up your garment tops just as much as you want-- no one is bound to wear that underwear-- it all depends on your conscience.
Isn't that Gucci model nude under that transparent top, or is that a flesh-colored cami?
The black-and-white Gareth Pugh is very modest, yet the neckline is a bit low.

It is easy for us to react to the idea of garment alteration (pinning, gathering, taping, and tucking) with a finger pointing at the law. Before we become too hasty, please let us remember the words of Paul, as captured multiple times by
Thomas Monson:
In his second epistle to the Corinthians, Paul the Apostle urges that we turn from the narrow confinement of the letter of the law and seek the open vista of opportunity that the Spirit provides. I love and cherish his statement: “The letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life” (2 Cor. 3:6).

Lol. You are indeed correct that the Gucci model is nude and undergarmentless. I completely missed that as I scrolled by. Well, that one is a definite no as styled. Perhaps you could style it with something underneath? Even so, that one would be difficult.

Another reason why the symbols should be tattoos instead of marks in clothing.
Wings carry so much meaning!

Alas, I really like this dress:

Only problem is, on me I'd look like an 1847 parade participant.
This is totally doable, with a cami underneath.
What I can't take are tshirts under spaghetti straps. ugh.

What meaning do they carry?

Was that dress made from leftover birthday present wrapping?
