I haven't been around here very long but I have heard of Pahoran from a lot of people. Reading through some of Pahoran's older posts, I notice that he is pretty quick to call people liars, dishonest, and so on. It made me wonder something, so here's my question to Pahoran.

Are there any legitimate criticisms of the LDS church that do not rely on dishonesty or lies?

Pahoran will not answer this question. I'd he does his answer is no, because no one can be honest and speak against the Mormon church.

I think it depends on how one defines the church. If it's the members or the early leaders, there are even scriptural criticisms of both. If it is about doctrine, the answer will almost certainly be no. If it's about policies, there is likely some wiggle room for criticism although he would likely add caution about why one shouldn't take it upon himself to steady the ark by criticizing policies.

How'd I do, or do I need to put more invective in it before you'll believe I can channel Pahoran?

You did terrible.

"No REAL Saint", would ever allow or.justify even the smallest criticism.

Pahoran should be awake now.

Why does he not respond?

The main problem with this site is that the TBMs who wander over here are largely of Pahoran's ilk. They come with knives in hand, not looking for a dialog, so much as a fight. And they get it. The other board welcomes critics--so long as they never offer criticism.

This is what I miss about ZLMB. A good mixture of people and at least half of them seemed to be interested in real conversation about the issues. There are some people here who are interested in that discussion, but they need some people sitting in the chairs on the opposite side of the table. Until that happens, it sounds like an echo chamber around here.

No, he can't think of a way of answering this question (as opposed to abusing or sneering at you for asking it) that does not lay him open to counterattack of some kind.
