Baptism and politics: an invitation to discussion

I'd like to start a philosophically serious and intellectually substantive discussion on the whole question of baptism as a political metaphor in a Mormon context.

But instead I am just posting this picture because I think it is rather funny:

But on consideration ... is this not an example of the Romney campaign leading to a wider awareness of the (to mainstream Christians) somewhat strange doctrines of the LDS church?

And so far, my impression is this growing awareness does not seem to be playing as a positive factor, either for the church of for Romney himself.

Baptism isn't strange to Christians.
