DCP's Stock goes Down again

Two months ago I pointed out Dan Peterson's despicable misrepresentation of something President Obama had said in the media, which he has refused to answer for. It now seems that Daniel C. Peterson is willing to double-down on dishonesty with a recent blog entry aimed to defend the poor Mormon candidate, Mitt Romney, from the horrible image that has been "carefully crafted" by his critics.

The Reality, Not the Image Crafted Carefully by His Critics

Image

The thing that’s keeping Barack Obama in the race despite his miserable performance on both economic policy and foreign policy, despite Obamacare, despite his attempts to control the means of production, despite his contempt for religious liberty, and despite his disdain for ordinary Americans, is Governor Romney’s entirely unwarranted negative public image as a person.

It is wholly false and unjustified, and those who want to defeat Barack Obama in November had better do everything they can to change it.

The social media offer a painless and inexpensive way to do that, if enough people will get involved.

This is hardly the first time a Mormon has argued that Mitt is a good person simply because he is a father. Dan Peterson is using this tactic the same way he tried to vindicate Schryver of all charges against him, simply because he saw no evidence that Schryver was a horrible father/husband. I've made a case against Romney numerous times on Facebook, at which point various Mormons would interject with the common retort, "but he has such a beautiful family."

This response is troubling for the simple fact that it implies that President Obama's family is somehow inferior to Romney's.

Could it be an underlying racist mindset that drives these kinds of responses? I mean why point to Romney's family all the time as a good reason to think he is a good person, when President Obama has a beautiful family just the same? Unless of course you think Obama's family is in some way inferior, the same way the second Mormon prophet believed that black families were , "black, uncouth, uncomely, disagreeable, sad, low in their habits, wild, and seemingly without the blessings of the intelligence that is generally bestowed upon mankind."

Of course the huge difference between the evil images of Romney and Obama is that the former is derived straight from Romney's own hideous and idiotic statements that were properly understood in their full contexts. The latter, the evil image of Obama as a man who cares nothing for Americans, is derived strictly from baseless psycho-analyses offered by the Right Wing blogosphere, talk radio, etc. Opinion/propaganda forums that rank in quality the same way Walter Martin and Ed Decker would rank as informed spokespersons on Mormonism.

Of course, as it is with virtually all matters dear to Dan's heart, he is completely incapable of making an intelligent argument. So as it is with his apologetics, he feels the best move here is to just lie about all this and hope people will just follow along and take for granted what he says. After all, he's done nothing but assert here. He doesn't debate the points. He is too much of a coward for that. His delusions of grandeur leave him to commenting in venues where he is above reproach. Comments are not permitted. Feedback is unwelcome.

Actually, despite the bumptious self-confidence, I think DCP is running scared nowadays.

He has been thrown out of the Maxwell Institute, and now the Romney candidacy is self-destructing before his eyes. After what happened to him and his supporters in the online comments session of that Utah photo-essay, he really just does not dare to allow a dissenting voice to be heard in his vicinity.

Gasbags tend to have an abiding fear of pins.

I don't follow politics much; what's he talking about here?

Half a minute. Did DCP really write that of Obama? Obama is the one who despises 47% of the electorate?

Wait a minute. Obama was also a child of privilege, perhaps even more so than Romney, so he must be just as phoney.

I miss the old days when I just thought DCP was wrong but interesting. Now he's not even interesting.

Excellent point. That is what DCP is talking about. Neutralize Obama's advantage by pointing out that he is just as phoney at Mitt. You also could add the point of Obama taking his dressage ponies for thrill rides on his car elevator.

Assuming privilege makes one phony in the first place; an argument I've never made. What makes Obama and the Democrats phoney is they are using the argument in the first place knowing all along that Obama was raised among bankers and oil tycoons.

I think he's talking about how Obama wants all health insurance plans to cover contraception, while some religious employers want to be able to make their health care plans not cover contraception, because they think it's eeeeeeeeevil. What this translates into in Republican Echo Chamber Speak is that Obama shows contempt for religious liberty.

If the churches just want to act like churches, I have no problem with their doing their own thing. If they want to act like employers, however, then they should be held to the same standards as any other employers, IMHO.
