Paying tithing online....SLC having a change of heart

So I was looking into paying tithing online...looks like SLC has had a bit of a change of heart. All of the previous links that allowed a member to make tithing donations online are now dead:

After a bit of searching online, I found this blurb:

We’ve been contacted by the Church Donations Department and asked to remove the links to the Electronic Donation Information form, among other things. This method of payment apparently wasn’t intended to be used by the general membership of the Church. We’ll be posting a new article with more information shortly. Please check back here for a link and more details.

Uh huh...

No more paying a tithe without the local bishop knowing how much you donate each year.

Revenues must be down.

My wife laughs at me when I try to cuss, because it doesn't sound natural.

"Event Tithing" refers to tithing generated from temple weddings, and since 2012, any melchizedek ordinances require full tithe declarations.

Greedy bastards!

CFR?

Imagine giving a priesthood blessing to a seriously ill or injured Mormon and later they die.

Too bad you did not pay a full tithe.

God! I wonder how long before this scenario is parlayed into a cattle prod talk about ALWAYS being a full tithe payer.

For example, you can baptize someone only using the Aaronic priesthood, but if you want to give them the gift of the holy ghost and confirm them a member of the church, well as of 2012, you have to have a recommend or be worthy of a recommend. This means that you must be a full tithe payer.

Worthiness to Participate in an Ordinance or Blessing

Only a Melchizedek Priesthood holder who is worthy to hold a temple recommend may act as voice in confirming a person a member of the Church, conferring the Melchizedek Priesthood, ordaining a person to an office in that priesthood, or setting apart a person to serve in a Church calling.

Once upon a time, the Priesthood was the power. Today, the recommend, the leadership, and your gender are the power. The priestood is an obsolete, traditional accessory

Confirmed, the electronic form link we've posted for years is dead. You can still try emailing them:

To get the forms and instructions, just email Church headquarters at RE-FRD-Electronic-Donations@LDSChurch.org

Thank you for demonstrating how cynicism disturbs rational thinking processes.

You think that "revenues must be down" prompts a donee organisation to make donations more difficult?

Umm, okay.

The other problem with your idiotic notion is that bishops have no idea about our earnings or the source thereof unless we tell them. Contrary to an anti-Mormon canard I have seen bandied about the internet, they do not see our tax declaration forms; a member tells the bishop whether or not she is a full tithe payer and the bishop takes her word for it. It's as simple as that.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that's just the way it is.

Pahoran
