evolution is from 'pit of Hell'

Part of US Congressman Paul Broun's speech:

"God's word is true. I've come to understand that. All that stuff I was taught about evolution and embryology and the big bang theory, all that is lies straight from the pit of Hell. And it's lies to try to keep me and all the folks who were taught that from understanding that they need a savior. You see, there are a lot of scientific data that I've found out as a scientist that actually show that this is really a young Earth. I don't believe that the earth's but about 9,000 years old. I believe it was created in six days as we know them. That's what the Bible says."

Embryology? WTF

It contradicts Bible-based Stork Theory or what? I would LOOOOOVE to hear him elaborate on his problems with embryology (better known as developmental biology for most of the last century...)

This jackass chairs the subcommittee that investigates fraud and abuse in science. I guess they read the Holy Bible to figure out which results must be fraud.

I have published several papers in the field of "embryology". He hasn't caught me yet!

According to the OP, he also refers to himself as a "scientist".

A physician is about as much a scientist as a practicing lawyer is a scholar.

Facing my ignorance and finding it disturbing, I wonder what that committee would be about. Perhaps a variation of Congressional committee for interpersonal self aggrandizement?
I am hoping it has no further role than that.
