The new medications for Alzheimer's are very effective for several years. Once the side effects become too problematic (my mother had seizures) and the medication is withdrawn, they fade quick. The key benefit is maintaining quality of life. It is not a cure.

Denial of his symptoms until the gossip became rampant does not mean he had no symptoms. The improvement from that time may last a while, but it will again become obvious.

I'm not so sure, he was certainly solid when he got to the script. Before that, why was he announcing empty seats to a world wide audience?

I am a TSM fan, he has always been my favorite apostle.

That said his speech seemed a lot more slurred than the last time I watched him and I noticed pauses where he seemed to be searching for words. He looked normal to me for his age but his delivery appeared to be less fluid then what I remember.

Are those signs of dementia or just old age? I don't know but given who is next in line, I am glad to see TSM up and about.

Given the statistics, some signs of dementia are normal. You know, the brain ages as does every other part of the body. For different people different parts of the body age faster.

I guess I ought to be grateful that so far it is only my cochleas that are aging fast. Last night, the grocery store clerk didn't know that for sure. This morning, I was quite self-sufficient on that little machine.

What symptoms? Does anyone have anything solid that points to Monson having Alzheimer's? Or is this just wild speculation?
