Quentin L. Cook, today in Conference
"Some have emerged themselves in internet materials that magnify, exaggerate, and in some cases invent shortcomings of early church leaders. Then they draw incorrect conclusions that can effect testimony. Any who have made these choices can repent and be spiritually renewed."
Scott Gordon better repent and be renewed. FAIR exposes so much about Mormonism that most Mormons don't even know.
Mr. Cook failed to explain why the most damning evidence from the church comes from church sources like Family Search or FAIRS/FARMS or Journal of Discourses. What is on the so-called anti-Mormon websites can almost always be confirmed by a Mormon source. The difference is that the Mormon source interprets the meaning to be completely different that logic would dictate it is. You are asked to suspend your intellectual response to said information and replace it with one of their programmed responses. But the information, damning as it is, remains the same.

Mormonism is like the movies: the suspension of disbelief.

What kind of asshole calls people to repentance for figuring out the truth?

Have a little respect. That's Apostle Asshole, after all.

Unless I'm mistaken, Elder Cook is an protege of BKP's.

Sort of like Stephen Smoot is a protege of DCP?

Sometimes I wonder if they give any thought as to how destructive their talks can be. Does he think there's something positive in telling my wife and kids that I need to repent because I followed the evidence to its logical and obvious conclusion? What does it say about them that they can't even admit that the truth is troubling and should be troubling to any reasonable person? No, it's our fault, and we need to repent. Either Cook has no clue about the truth, or he is a damned liar.

From Neil L. Anderson today At about 8:44
There has always been a few who want to discredit the church and destroy faith. Today they use the internet. Some of the information about the church, no matter how convincing, is just not true.
He then goes on to recount an odd retelling of the salamander letter I believe.
It seems the internet is quite a problem if it's getting mentioned several times in conference. Perhaps they can just declare the internet a 'public nuisance' and then try to destroy it.

Maybe LDS Inc ought to have its string puppets in the Utah Legislature outlaw the internet in Utah.
