Distrust in the roots of Mormonism

From its very foundation, distrust has served Mormonism well. We see from Joseph Smith's historical account that he tried to figure out what religion was the right one. It turns out that NONE of them were. Can you imagine? Of all the hundreds of religions people have been experimenting with over the AGES, Joseph came to trust NONE of them. We see this pattern today as many Mormon Americans seem to distrust the government and even both presidential candidates. It is in our blood to distrust.

So, given the importance of distrust in Mormonism, why is it a problem for us to distrust Mormon Doctrine, COB, and the LDS leadership?

Because Mormon Doctrine is true, the COB is well run and perfectly suited to help carry out God's intentions, and LDS leadership cannot lead the church astray. That was easy.

As with most successful movements, the Church is based on "us vs them" mentality.

Can anyone think of a successful movement that was not based on "us vs. them"?

True, that's me of a "me vs it" kind of thing...
