What's the Hullabaloo?

So, last night I saw a storm brewing between liz and Doctor Scratch. It is an old tension, reawakened by recent events. Now it seems it has boiled over, and we have lost a mod.
I don't understand why we would take one of the few people willing to act as a mod for this place and chase her out. I don't care how disreputable her friends are (you know, like me); good luck finding another person who is willing to put up with yer bellyachin'!!!
Good grief.
Take a chill pill people. No one's interests are truly served by hounding the mods in this place. No one's interests are truly served by getting angry with anyone peripherally connected with the respective parties and banning them from other boards.
Can't we all just get along, at least minimally?

The hullabaloo is that tensions are rising because of the upcoming election. Two weeks ago I decided to detach from it. Others do differently.

Things will settle down afterwards.

I dunno, Kish, liz acted in a way that eroded trust. Mods have access to in real life information and liz participated in a campaign to expose Scratch's in real life information. Moderating and exposing confidential information seem to be in conflict.

She did? I must have missed that conversation. I would be surprised to find that she participated, but, then again, who has not tried to figure out who Doctor Scratch is?
I know I have tried, and he knows that I tried. Ray Agostini has worked with Daniel to figure it out.
Did liz work with Daniel to figure it out? What's the evidence that she did?

For the record, there was no campaign. I never used any in real life information such as IP addresses. The only thing I did was tell DCP to unfriend Jason Echols based on information that Pahoran had given me, as well as DCP.
The remark I made to Scratch was information available on a public Facebook page, and shouldn't have even bothered Scratch if the ID was incorrect.

Kish, I appreciate your friendship and support. But it is really OK. I don't need the stress anymore involved with Modding..particularly since it seems to have been unappreciated by most here.
Let's see how quickly reports get answered.
I am not going to be making any type of Mod duties, even though I still have those rights. When Shades returns to the board, he can take care of that process.

For cryin' out loud, liz!
Pahoran? Pahoran is a goon, whose one discernible talent is getting things spectacularly wrong in the most defamatory possible way.
I hope next time you know not to place any trust in this Keystone cop of Mopologetics.
I guess I am a little disappointed that you trusted Pahoran of all people to get much of anything right, and that this sad exercise ended in DCP wrongly accusing someone, by name no less, on his public blog.
Putting that aside, I understand why you no longer want the hassle of being mod here, but I am also unhappy that you are quitting. The last thing this place needs is fewer mods.
Oh, and Shades, could you knock off the Nazi auto-correct BS?
If this keeps up, I am leaving.

DCP made up his own mind regarding Scratch's identity. I just noticed that Jason Echols was on his friends list. Since DCP claimed not to know Jason Echols, and Pahoran had some strong inclincations that Echols was Scratch, I suggested to DCP that it might be a good idea to unfriend him. That was the extent of my involvement as far as the whole Scratch=Echols debacle is concerned. What I suggested simply made common sense.
As far as my remark goes, it was a little "out there". Shades had always stated that we were free to "speak as a man" as long as we were not acting as Moderators in our Moderator red font.
The comment I made to Scratch was information that was available on a public Facebook page. And it is information that would not have even been taken as any kind of insult but more as a WTF reaction if there wasn't some connection between the two of them.
Scratch has not bothered to state why my remark bothered him.

I regret the loss of Liz, and although no-one is indispensable this board will no doubt have reason to regret her ceasing to be a mod.
My own reasons for thinking it might, nevertheless, be better for her to lay down that role are in this post:
viewtopic.php?p=650538#p650538It is clear, and has not been denied by anybody, that Liz thought she had some in real life information on Scratch - that he was connected with Democrats Abroad in Taiwan. She used this information to, as she puts it, 'swipe' at Scratch in an post in which she referred openly to this supposed fact, in a way that made it obvious to the meanest intelligence, even mine, that she was referring to Scratch.
No mod should do that, and a mod who does it risks losing the essential trust of other board members in moderator impartiality. The fact that she was mistaken about Scratch's in real life identity does not seem to me to be an adequate excuse.
But it's still a pity.

I would assume the control panel used by the mods to perform their tasks has access to less functions that an administrator's.
Does anyone know if a moderator actually has access to IP addresses or user' PMs (other than their own)?
I could be wrong but I suspect not. If I am correct, then I am not seeing that Liz's actions whether I approve of them or not (not) as being an abuse of her mod privileges.
