If you've ever wondered if there are indeed members who still believe in the literal second coming of Jesus, look no further than good old Mitt. Among other things, he believes that Jesus is coming back to Jerusalem, is going to split the Mount of Olives, and reign on the earth personally. He even cites Cleon Skousen in the conversation.

However, the much more disturbing part of the video for me comes when he shows his deference to the Mormon church on the subject of abortion. He even states at several parts during the video that he cannot support abortion because his church doesn't support it and that he would be excommunicated from his church for his support of abortion. I think this clears up the question of whether Romney would let church policies influence his actions in the White House. The answer is a resounding yes.

We knew that though, right? I believe Bart Ehrman in his Book Jesus as an Apocalyptic Prophet nailed it when he demonstrated that at best, Jesus is a failed apocalyptic prophet. He never came back. That's the sum of it honestly. The Second Coming was an early Christian ad hoc add on later on when it dawned on them that Jesus wasn't coming back. Paul was adamant he was going to be living when Jesus came back, as were the teachings of the early Christian followers for the first 75 or so years. Then when the terrible truth dawned on them that it just wasn't going to happen, they adjusted, and hence came the Christian idea of heaven and hell, and judgment, etc. Ehrman also touches on this in his amazing read "God's Problem," a book that should be mandatory reading of all Christians and Mormons. His analysis of the book of Job was masterful. It certainly contradicts Terryl Given's version of God in his new book "The God Who Weeps."

Don't fall for it. This is merely Mitt's answer to a conservative radio audience. He delivered what they wanted to hear during the primary season, acting out the role of "severe conservative" to get votes.

I'm on the fence as to whether Mitt would be a conservative or moderate in office. Who knows? Mitt might not even know. It all depends on what he things the audience needs to hear to re-elect him in 2016.
