First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles Congratulate President on Election Win | MormonNewsroom.org

SALT LAKE CITY — The First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints issued the following statement Tuesday:

We congratulate President Obama on winning a second term as President of the United States.

After a long campaign, this is now a time for Americans to come together. It is a long tradition among Latter-day Saints to pray for our national leaders in our personal prayers and in our congregations. We invite Americans everywhere, whatever their political persuasion, to pray for the President, for his administration and the new Congress as they lead us through difficult and turbulent times. May our national leaders reflect the best in wisdom and judgment as they fulfill the great trust afforded to them by the American people.

We also commend Governor Romney for engaging at the highest level of our democratic process which, by its nature, demands so much of those who offer themselves for public service. We wish him and his family every success in their future endeavors.

LDS Inc will now layoff the PR staff that they thought they needed for the next four years.

I bet they are glad the Romney rein is over. LDS Inc will fade quickly into the shadows.

Too bad Romney did not take the higher road.

The good folks of Ohio bitch-slapped his lying ass for sure.

I'd like to know what they really think of the results.
I have to imagine that some of them are quietly breathing a sigh of relief. Now the media focus will pass. No more news articles and reports on Mormonism.
At the same time I'm sure some really wanted Romey to win. No doubt that some considered it the path to fulfilling the white horse prophecy.

And it all ended with what could be called the white jackass prophecy.

We congratulate President Obama on winning a second term as President of the United States ...
.. and ask him to watch for four more years the constitution and the government, hanging by a brittle thread - and to watch the watchmen themselves.

I pray for them all the time. Of course what that means is different depending on who's in office.......

Actually, I think this is the best result for the church.

It's profile was raised, it became a little more acceptable.

But now it gets to fall back and regroup.

I don't think 4 more years of scrutiny would have been in its best interest.

I'd like to know why the Big 15 thought it was their place to issue a statement such as this at all.

I think it is good that President News Room issued the congratulatory for the FP/12. As strongly as the pro-Mitt sentiment, anti-Obama sentiment has been in my neck of Zion, I have feared for how Obama's win would cause some of the more fringe LDS elements to become more isolated, like building encampment communities a la the polygamists in Colorado City.
