ETA: As self-serving as aspects of their service might appear to the cynic in me, I am certain the folks affected by the storm appreciate all the help they can get. Though I may disagree with how they go about it, I'm glad Mormons Helping Hands is there to do what they can.

Thank God for Mormon Helping Hands! If it wasn't for them, no Sandy victims would be getting help!

In all seriousness its cool they are helping, but I bet thousands more are helping/donating just as much except they aren't using bright yellow vests and filming it. This is great cult propaganda. Next conference we'll hear some GA trumpet how the church donated $xxx to Sandy clean up. Meanwhile other not-for profit charities will act with quiet dignity and publish their financial statements showing where their money came from and how it was spent including Sandy clean up.

Well actually they are using yellow vests, one gentleman said they handed out Mormon Helping Hands vests to the volunteers from Islamic and Catholic charities and to any people in the neighborhood who volunteer. They are co-opting volunteers to advertise for them. I admire every LDS church member who got on a bus and went down and did the dirty work of helping people recover their homes as best they can. But for the LDS church to use this as an opportunity to showcase their charitable activities and to misrepresent the LDS presence, that is disgusting.

The gentleman in the video seemed quite sincere when telling about the 40 volunteers from Islamic charities and the 50 volunteers from Catholic charities I don't see any reason to not believe him.
