Monson dedicates Boise temple?
Were reports of his dementia demise exaggerated?

Did anyone hear more about his tour of Germany?

Apparently Monson gave a speech to a youth celebration in Boise which someone recorded. He seems alright to me.

There are rumors floating around now that there were issues:
I'm trying to track down more of this. Because it was a dedication and you had to have a recommend - there were no cameras, no video, no recordings. Only second hand stories.
So the above posted on some Mormon forum is second hand. Still trying to track down more sources.
"I was at all three sessions of the Boise Temple dedication today. I felt really bad for President Monson. The first session everyone that was on the stand walked in a little late. They all sat down. President Monson went up to the mike and Elder Bednar and the two 70's present jumped up and whispered to him, apparently reminding him that he was not conducting the session. He sat down in one of the 70's chairs until his talk.
"But it was the last session that made me feel bad for him. Half way through his talk he really started to ramble. He went on and on about how much he loved the cultural events that precede the dedications. Then THREE times he told the same story of how the night before he had loved the dancing and twirling the youth did (and mimicked some motions) and how he had sat by two of the dancers who he thought made a cute couple. Since they looked cute together he told the boy to kiss the girl (Then he made kissing noises). He did this three times. Then he said that he loves playing matchmaker and he didn't know what would happen to the young couple from the night before but he felt inspired to tell them to kiss and they seemed to enjoy it. Then he said that his wife tells him not to flirt with the youth but last night she was not there to stop him. He also mentioned that some of the brethren do not like the cultural events but he loves them.
"The saddest part though was right at the end. He said twice that he assigned himself to this Temple Dedication, and then said that the reason why was that he really loves coming to "Canada" because it always feels like going home.
"I really felt bad for him. I was beginning to wonder if Elder Bednar would jump up and intervene somehow. It was quite sad."

That's sad, if it is accurate.
I wish this old man no harm, and I wonder why he is not allowed to retire gracefully after many years of service to the organization that he reveres and obviously loves. It is degrading to the audience to see someone who is losing their faculties being exposed like this. He needs respectful care from those who know how such things are best done.
What is gained by keeping up the pretense that this is God's mouthpiece on earth?

That's the problem with this supernatural stuff, it doesn't really solve anything. It's a placeholder for ignorance.

That's sick.

About $5 billion in tithing.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

I was at the second session and he did a good job. I really enjoyed it.
