Revelatory structure of the LDS church
Re: Revelatory structure of the LDS church
1. The prophet turns pale during a live session of General Conference, while an angel appears, bathed in a strange light with a drawn sword and Conference watchers hear a heavenly choir of Cherubim saying "he will kill us if we don't become 11x more likely ...".

I prefer the following method of revelation:
Arthur, King of the Britons, wrote:The Lady of the Lake, her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite, held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water, signifying by divine providence that I, Arthur, was to carry Excalibur. THAT is why I'm your king!
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

What I'd like to see it Pres Thomas S. Monson appear on CNN calling the nations to repentance, rendering his clothes in pieces, while covering his body with ashes.
To hell with the PR departement, and lets get a good old testament prophet rambling and raving about apocalyptic events.
Or even better, imagine a "Samuel the Lamanite like situation" with Monson standing atop of some famous building or monument, preaching repentance, while the security guards try to stun him with tazers that doesn't seem to work..
But all we get is the "be nice" averaged, integrated and filtered messages.
About Joseph Smith.. How do you think his persona was influenced by being the storyteller since childhood? Mastering the art of going pale, changing his voice, and mesmerizing his audience.. How do you think he was influenced by keeping secrets and lying for his wife and the church members for decades?

Actually I think #16 trumps the whole list.
Then saith He to Thomas... be not faithless, but believing. - John 20:27
