LDS Democrats caucus calls for day of fasting, prayer

The Utah Democratic Party’s LDS caucus announced a call Tuesday for a day of fasting and prayer this Sunday to help heal the nation’s political divisiveness.

“Bipartisanship and civility are Christian values so it makes sense for us in a religious sense to be fasting for these values,” said Crystal Young-Otterstrom, chairwoman of the LDS Democrats Caucus.

She said members of the caucus considered holding the fast earlier this fall but chose to wait until after the election so it would be clear the intent was not to favor a particular political party or candidate.

“With this fast, we’re not saying God favors one party over another, or that God favors one candidate over another,” Young-Otterstrom said. “But we are saying these are values, everybody’s values, and we think they’re important.”

Yes, the classic leftist Democrat tactic of negating opposition by casting the massive divide and hostility - created primarily by the Left over the past 40 years - between Left and Right in the nation as just a big misunderstanding. All we really need is just a big group hug and conservatives can then make nice and abandon all of their core principles and let the Left run the country and make everything right. This is all a part of the same, dreary, threadbare playbook in which the Left pretends to be concerned about the "divisiveness" of the very flaming culture war they began and the flames of which the Democratic party has poured gasoline on relentlessly since the early seventies.

Given the Democratic party's core values, beliefs, and policy prescriptions, "gibberish" is one of many terms that come to mind in attempting to describe this verbiage.

"Disingenuous" is another.
